to me it's not about raids not being there etc, it's more about what people will pay. I go on ML10 raids a lot (there is ALWAYS one going on on one of the realms). I remember the first time I won a conflag on mid, I didn't really want to sell it, but I put it up on my merchant for 180p just for giggles, and the next day it had sold. If people are going to pay that stupid amount of plat why wouldn't I keep putting it up for that? To me there has to be a way to limit the amount of plat people have. I'm not sure how you would do this (some kind of plat sink) but I feel like until that happens there will always be items that cost stupid amounts of plat because some people will pay it (i.e summoner's hall gear, seasonal stuff etc)

add a merchant that you can buy stuff from with gold only, but cant resell or trade to another player

How about increasing the costs of houses to like 100p for mansions, 40p for villas, 10p for houses, and 1p for cottages, increasing cost of learning crafting by lowering the chance of skilling on each craft, and eliminating quests that give a lot of gold for rewards. Wait a minute...

that's all fine and good for the guy who is playing the plat collector but the EA/Mythic Developers should be looking at a different limit, that is, how many people they can get to play their game and your idea is exactly opposite of it.

The problem with DAoC is that over the years as the population waned, its evolved into a solo-player MMORPG. The prices of items that require a raid are exorbitant, and will continue to increase as supply dwindles. There are just too few people actually raiding now, hence the >100plat ML10 items.


And to make matters worse, even the farmers have bailed on the game as well.

I don't see DAOC surviving past 2012 unless another major patch is implemented or a expansion is released.


A few things that I think will help keep current players and attract newcomers.


Make housing rent free.

Put in a postal system (mailbox.

RvR Rez Sickness needs to be removed completely

Movement speed in and out of combat needs to be the same. (I'm not talking about forms of CC)

Movement speed in RvR and PvE zones need to be at same percent. (I'm not talking about making speed in PvE zones slower)

i can.. i can get a group, and go do ml10 in less then 3 hours no problem...

i used to do it all the time.

infact, if your just doing it yourself, small scale.. there is realy no organizing to do, no planning... you just get the required classes together, then go do it.

2 druids, 2 animists, 1 hero, 1 warden, and 2 enchanters then go kill them all.. poof loot for everyone.
