One more person who knows just barely enough about the interwebs to convince himself that no attack will sneak by his expert browsing.

Personally, and this is just my opinion- I would sooner believe that your internet security expertise is a bit less than you implied before I believed some peon at Blizzard decided to risk his job by selling account info and managing to do so without leaving any digital fingerprints.

I've never understood the stance of "I don't care enough to get an authenticator." If you care enough to play the game which costs $15 a month, why not pay an extra half month for peace of mind and keeping your stuff safe?

Personally I think Blizzard should have included an authenticator in every box. It's a little greedy on their part to not offer it considering all the account hackings, but oh well.

I don't use an authenticator. I would rather know that my computer is compromised because I use it for far more important things than playing an online game. In addition to the things mentioned, I also keep a count on the number of processes running. I have also gone through system services and disabled/shut down all the remote access services and sharing services, of which windows has many.

The most important part is to never click on any email sent about WoW or another MMO. Always use your own official links. I have had many emails sent to one junk email that has never been tied to wow or any other online game.

My account was hacked when I took my last hiatus from WoW. I am the ultimate computer security maniac . I know for a fact that a virus or keylogger has never infected my machine. I browse the web in a VM that has its own AV software. I scan outside of windows, which pretty much guarantee's that a virus can't hide. Of course I use one of the better AV packages( avast) out there in windows as well. If my machine had been infected these cracker jacks would have had access to options that are much more lucrative than a buck per 100 gold.

No my machines are mr squeaky clean.

Is someone at Blizzard behind it? Its a possibility that an $8.00 an hour customer service rep might be involved. Of course no one has ever said it was officially endorsed.

Brute force is a possibility since it seems that Blizzard has no account lockout setup on these accounts.

Lol, there's the kind of logic I have grown accustomed to from these boards!

No Authenticator because you don't care?

If you don't have an authenticator I don't care that you got hacked.

If you don't care you got hacked, and I don't care you got hacked... then...

oh right,

+1

There we go. Moving on.

Skimmed the post, get an authenticator. Double factor authentication is what you need, especially if you're downloading porn.
