My account was hacked when I took my last hiatus from WoW. I am the ultimate computer security maniac . I know for a fact that a virus or keylogger has never infected my machine. I browse the web in a VM that has its own AV software. I scan outside of windows, which pretty much guarantee's that a virus can't hide. Of course I use one of the better AV packages( avast) out there in windows as well. If my machine had been infected these cracker jacks would have had access to options that are much more lucrative than a buck per 100 gold.

No my machines are mr squeaky clean.

Is someone at Blizzard behind it? Its a possibility that an $8.00 an hour customer service rep might be involved. Of course no one has ever said it was officially endorsed.

Brute force is a possibility since it seems that Blizzard has no account lockout setup on these accounts.

As I said in my previous post, just as soon as I canceled my sub I started getting a plethora of fake e-mails trying to get my information in one form or another after I re-uped it they all but stopped. So if there is anything to inside jobs it would be the selling lists of accounts with canceled sub's. Either that or there is a way to see if your account is active or not with the e-mail attached to it publicly which would be stupid on Blizz's part.

You just can't reason with this level of stupid.

Is that your roundabout way of saying there is an easy way to find out if ones account is active or not and the e-mail attached to it?

No, it's my roundabout way of saying that the notion of Blizz selling account info is hilarious. And the idea of rogue Blizz employees selling account info on a scale large enough for people on these boards to take notice is even funnier.

If you do not think there isn't a chance a few blizz employees get some spare cash on the side from gold sites your hilarious yourself.Almost all companies have a few bad/.dirty employees look at government where we have ppl selling US secrets to other countries you really think a blizzard employee would be above making extra cash on the side in a game? get real.I do not think it is done on a wide scale but I 1000% think it has and is done.

just from the sheer volume of wow, the number of employees they must have, accts and players, i would be willing to bet there is an entire subculture of wow employees that engage in nefarious activities related to making money from their access.

You'd have to pretty much be a complete moron to think it is just totally out of the realm of possibility that a disgruntled blizzard employee could be selling account info.

You can (and currently would have to) make the assertion that no one knows for sure, but to claim that it is not possible just makes you retarded.

I think that yes.. it could happen.. but the amount it would have to be happening on a scale of users on this board that have claimed their account was stolen by Blizz vs the millions of Subs....one would have to assume we should start a Vn Boards WoW Forum lottery pool. Because this board would have to be the luckiest (unluckiest) slice of society.

...and if the trolls (lovingly) here have put 2 and 2 together....
