I still play WOW 16-20 hours a month..this is a great deal for me personally..I was thinking about messing with D3 anyways... even if I lasted only 4 more months with wow..it has paid for itself.

Yes..that is QUITE a trap Blizzard has set..

look at the past years subscriptions how they dropped 1 million players overall since the release of Cata. They are looking for a way to lock people into a year long plan even if you pay 1 month at a time. You will not be able to cancel your subscription at all, unless you do a reverse charge or the CC you use expires during that time. I really dont see this helping Blizzard out too much. The big fanboys that are all about obtaining mounts and achievements seem the only likely subscribers to this annual plan.

I have been reading elsewhere that its 1.5million and growing but sure seems to me too be a lot more than that;

I used to lag big time in SW after Cata was released, the AH was always full of players, and the trade chat was a non-stop flow of multiple conversations.

On the official Blizzard forum you could post on just about any of them and expect your post to be moved off the first page with an hour on the general forum sometimes with in minutes.

Today I never lag in SW, hardly anyone in AH ever, and the trade chat is just about stagnant, if you post on the Blizz forums you can check back the next day and usually find your post still on the first page, on the general forum it could take several ours to a day before it is gone.

I think the real number is in 3-4 million range, perhaps more, so yea I bet they are desperate, in fact with GW2 around the corner they must be at defcon #2 about now!

Give me D3 Collector's and Heart of the Swarm for free and we'll talk.

Damn, even I'd be interested at that point.

I think what you are seeing is the effect of people simply not logging in but leaving their account open. That way Blizzard can still count their account as active even if they haven't logged on in 5 months. So sure they lost 1 million account subs, but they probably did lose 2 or 3 times that in actual players.

Guild wars will probably steal a lot from WoW (my guess is in the 2 million range). Star wars may steal a few people as well. This business scheme is brilliant for Blizzard because they can tell people they only lost a few. Brilliant.

If you also buy D3 collectors ed., when you enter the Number you automatically get 4 months free WOW and it counts towards your 12 month sub.

you guys do know you must be DONE with the 1year sub BEFORE you get D3 right?

Q: When do I get Diablo III and the other exclusive benefits?

A: You'll be able to download and play Diablo III as soon as it's available and once you complete the one-year term, it's yours to keep, even if you cancel your subscription. Tyrael's Charger will be available with Patch 4.3, and beta access will go live with the beta launch.

So if it comes out in 6 months you must wait another 6 months before you can download it.
