I personally believe people are wired to believe in God, mysticism, and religion. Humans are very spiritual beings.

No.
I'm asking why can we accept that death is preferable to living for animals, but not for people?

Allstar I am giving you my opinion. I don't think death is EVER preferable unless you are in such terrible physical pain that you cannot escape it no matter what drug they give you.

You don't put a dog down if it's depressed, isn't getting laid enough, or doesn't like it's dog house.
If a human being is in such poor physical shape that continuing to exist will only result in continued physical agony....then it's that humans right to decide if they are going to continue or not.
If they are upset they didn't grow up to be a rock star or a porn star or jesus or something, you tell them to stop being a dick and enjoy what they have or change what they have. If that doesn't work you medicate them and make them see people that will help them fix their brains, because their brains are currently broken.

I can understand you thinking that.
I have a hard time thinking it though. Without a greater purpose I can't see the point of life unless you are enjoying it.
I'm not convinced life is special just because it's life. Or that you have to hold on to it.

And that greater purpose is what you make it to be. You are the director and boss of your life, make it so!
If you have to leave behind everything you find miserable, then so be it... You are not obligated to live a miserable existence just because of XYZ. Make yourself a new, start over as the person you want to be, with the people in your life that you want to be in your life.

Everything is relative... Most people dont want to feel unhappy... So they seek help if its available. Ultimately should is strange, the fact is people that are unhappy are not happy to be unhappy.
