lets recap the FFXI launch.
* two weeks before US launch, they killed the US servers, and told us we would play on existing asian servers.
* existing players rape the market and inflate everything needed to level tradeskills
* gil sellers jacked prices through the roof, and you needed to buy gil because you couldn't earn enough to buy stuff
* poisons that never wear off, and eventually kill you, unless you find someone to cure you
* when you die, you lose exp and can lose a level
* many key abilities required synchronizing with other players moves, which is difficult when they don't speak your language
that game made Trials of Atlantis a dream to play, which was released on the same day.
