Maintaining 3 accounts to be fully competetive.

why would you need 3 accounts to be competetive? ..

you dont even need 2... unless you solo, wich then your just going against how the game was designed in the first place.

You definitely need at least 2.

not if you group with other players... cause every group needs buffs and those buffs are on group essential classes called clerics, druids, shamans and healers..

you only *NEED* a bot if you solo.

What is this "Group" of which thou speakest?
Methinks tis perchance a mythical beast from the far distant past?

AKA the one group a month I get invited to disolves after 5-10 minutes making me wonder why people talk about this non-existant entity called a group.

I stand by what I said earlier.

It's too hard to get to RR5 or otherwise become competetive in RvR.

I hugely admire anyone who manages to get to RR5 these days, as they've accomplished something which I cannot accomplish.

To the person who kindly advised me to stick with one character & I'd eventually get to RR5 I have to say, it doesn't matter how long you stick with a character as long as you're not getting any RPs due to most of the people you're fighting being 7-9 RRs higher than you, even with a good temp & ML10 & CL10. Also, if you want to PvE it, the number of Assassinations you'd have to do to reach RR5 by that path is mind-numbing, even assuming you had speed & buffs & ML6 Sojourner. At the end (after a very long & boring experience) you'd be RR5 but with no positive experience of RvR.

With the number of very high RRs currently around, I don't think they will manage to keep many new or returning players for long without making access to RR5 easier to obtain.

The question then is: Do you want RR5 to be easier to obtain in order to get more people to stick around prolonging the longevity of the game, or do you think the stupid incapable noobs like me should just F.O.?

The only thing that's making me consider quitting is lag. It's unacceptable for a game that's been around this long.

theres always a bunch of players complaining they never get invited to a group..

The one and only reason I quit was because of family obligations.

As for RR disparities being a reason for quiting, I have an idea. Why not, if you're under RR5, acquire rp's in rvr even if you lose the fight? Scale it based on the rr difference and/or by the # of enemies attacking you, but it should never be as much as you'd receive for winning a solo fight. Why not? They were practically giving away rp's w/ dopps... at least more sub rr5 people would have an incentive to get out there and fight!

Flame away....

Both came out at what I would call my height of DaoC.

I worked with them for a while but that was definitely the jump the shark moment.

I can't imagine playing when you can X-realm. Back in the day if you wanted to play another realm, you did it on another server..

/get off my lawn

To a lesser extent
-Buffbots (especially + stealth classes)
-Populating drop (in many ways WoW killed DaoC, many people left DaoC to try it when it came out)

SPot on. The more Mythic fiddled with the game, the more they broke it.

Most people that quit anymore are long term players that just need to move on, usually from something RL related that is outside the game. lets face it, if theyve put up withthe imbalances and silly mechanics for 9 years, its not the game taht will make them quit.

1) No longer have the time

usually because of getting a job, changing jobs, going to school, getting a girlfriend, gettign married, joinign the military, etc. having played the game in through high school, college, work, and marriage, i can say ive seen a lot of friends leave the game for life changing events. more for those reasons than any other.

2) They played for the friends they had in game, who have since all quit.

odds are the friends slowly quit over time for reason numebr 1.

3) they cant afford it

this was never a huge deal, but with the way the economy was the past several years a lot of people lost jobs or saw paycuts. and saving $40+ a month can make a big difference.

4) being behind the template curve because you quit for X months

it happens that at some point youve done it all and just cant find that spark anymore. odds are you will come back in a few months like a junkie trying to recapture that first high, but its never the same. and when they do come back, they find they are missing new awesome item of epicness. then they find out they cant get that item because it was a limited time only.

-----------------------------

What I dont see a lot of is:

-quitting for some new game. sure it happened back in the day. but it doesnt happen anymore. people might play anntoher game and daoc at the same time, but those still playing arent going to leave for that new thing, especially after beign burned ahrd by wowhammer.

-quitting because of stupid calss imblance X. it happens dont get me wrong. but its such a minute percentage that it could easily fall into the catagory as a tippnig point. the player was already considering quittign and the stupid calss change was just the last straw.

-quitting because it sucks being rr4 facing rr12s. honestly that oen surprises me. maybe it does happen a lot and i just never saw it. too me taht would be frustrating as hell losign fights over and over because someone who alegedly should win because they have more experience than you ALSO GETS MORE ABILITIES than you. way to make a tough fight tougher. but the thing is, while this is unfair and stupid, its the smae as every other mmo. those who grind harder and longer get the best tips (I hope someone quotes that out of context some day).

Ywain is actually as close to OF zerginess as DAOC has been in years. I like it...beats that same old same old fighting the same dudes every fight imo.

People should be more open minded when it comes to this game, if the Devs did not intend for this game to have huge battles, then the game wouldnt have huge battles=x

That being said 8 vs 75 is where its at=)
