Ywain is actually as close to OF zerginess as DAOC has been in years. I like it...beats that same old same old fighting the same dudes every fight imo.

People should be more open minded when it comes to this game, if the Devs did not intend for this game to have huge battles, then the game wouldnt have huge battles=x

That being said 8 vs 75 is where its at=)

the fact that 8 can stomp 75 is a contributing factor.

DAOC is fully based around competitive PvP. Any new player can NEVER reach the top because there are characters on here that are nearly 10 years old. No point in trying to play a competitive game when the deck is stacked so far in the old toons' favor you have no hope.

Biggest problem is playing on an established old server with hordes of maxed out characters.

Solution would be to launch a new server, but we all know that will never happen.

Origins or a new server and I resub.

1. Lack of maintenance - server performance is totally unacceptable considering today's standards and availability of high speed internet access. This also applies to game bugs/broken game mechanics; some that are years old.

2. No variety - basically RvR in NF or maybe a little BGs. Other than that the rest of the game is a ghost town.

3. Community - the decreasing game population has resulted in a "crucible" effect, with the game currently having the highest % of asshats in any current MMO (easily). This discourages new players and veterans who remember the "glory days".

4. Realm Pride - With no check on character creation or realm timers, who gives a crap who owns what now?

Stealth groups are what killed it for most of my friends

Then your friends are wussies, stupid or both. This is a group based game for visi and stealth, and if you could not avoid a stealth group..

You sucked anyway !

Would this be an example of the fine community that was referenced in an earlier post?

What is this "Group" of which thou speakest?
Methinks tis perchance a mythical beast from the far distant past?

AKA the one group a month I get invited to disolves after 5-10 minutes making me wonder why people talk about this non-existant entity called a group.

theres always a bunch of players complaining they never get invited to a group..

you know how to solve that?

invite people to join you... poof a group has formed!

THIS!! Dear god, if all the whinners that don't get invited to groups would just notice the 7 other people doing the same thing and <gasp> /invite them....HOLY CRAP - groups!!

I've been back for 1 month. TOA was easier before when you didnt have to spend days farming glass to get new toons to ML10. Only raids now are ML10. Solo stealth game has gone to shit, Last night after playing 3 hours in a low populated area I logged out with 4k rps made. Only 1 clean solo fight but I did get added on after I killed the first target. Rest of the night I got zerged by FG's of RR7-RR12 stealthers. I'm talking 2-5 AM pacific. Died 8 to 10ish times. I understand its a group/realm game, but soloing and dying to 2-6 other stealthers repeatedly causes you to stop rvr'ing.

Other complaints-
1.just now after trying to quick log into a character... tried twice... different character each. Then did realm selection instead... took 6 tries to log in to a toon. Nothing wrong with my internet.
2.get rid of phase shift and zephyr from stealthers.

Furthermore, I've realized that back in my 8v8 days, I was part of the problem. I needed those baddies that I looked down on back then. They kept my server alive, and gave me a source of RPs. My elitism, 8 man groups that could roll the causal guy who worked a hard day then came home to play a few hours to relax, helped drive them out of the game.

That casual guy has a right to have fun playing too, and it was impossible given what the elite tend to do to those who aren't. There's a sense that if you can, you should...and this imo has helped to kill the game. Hindsight is 20/20 *shrug*.

Kudos for recognizing this. Casual players were the backbone of RVR action, and as much as 8v8 people complained about the zergs, those same groups sure were in Emain alot getting RPs. Elite players need casual players like bears need salmon.

If you're a casual player without an active RVR guild, in my experience it can be very difficult to form a group as a single person, because you're not going to have the core support classes you need to get people to stay. I tried forming my own groups multiple times, but so many people will immediately quit when they see you're a group of 4 people without a healer, or without CC,or without speed, etc.

Not being able to form a balanced group then leads to getting rolled all night by guild groups, so you hardly get any RPs, and it takes you forever to get the RRs you need to get some abilities to help you compete.

Bottom line, DAOC is not a casual player friendly game, and in my opinion, the fewer casual players, the fewer elite players the game can support.
