It was a series of disasters, with the last one being over the top:
1. TOA
2. OP'd expansion classes
3. NF
4. New Archery

Crazyhawk was right on about alot of things, BUT...
for me the main game killers for me have been the HUGE amount of cheaters i have been experiencing these days.
just today caught ANOTHER rp farmer int he act of rp farming in mid. battlechimpp(rr2 alb scout) was rp farming mids at arvark at the river, demox, moxxx, basar, and basab would come out go to the river and battlechimpp would just sit in the water and kill them.
then i was on my skald in snowdonia running and skald + sprint speed and supernova(hib rr7 vw) was keeping up with my skald speed
appealed em both, but i KNOW mythic is getting tired of me appealing, but get rid of the GD free running cheaters and i will stop appealing completely
POS GD cheaters!!!

Lot's of good posts in here. How about the annoying bug that causes you to crash to character selection screen while zoning, then causes all your spell bars to blank when you log back in? I know for a fact that detailed feedback by numerous players has been submitted on that one bug alone and nada has been done about it. Not only do they not fix it, they don't even acknowledge it as a problem!
They have created and developed this game around the "few" (NF players uber alles-has been Mythic's stance all along) and basically given everyone else who plays the game "the finger." And now guess who they have left? The few. They catered to the few and now thats all they have left. How about spending the rest of the game's life trying to attract and RETAIN new players? Novel idea huh? Getting slaughtered endlessly in NF and Lab is not most new players idea of a fun end game. Most players are casual, don't take my word for it, check WoW's numbers and do a little research for the details.
Is it too late to turn things around? Maybe, maybe not. There are many many small things they could do to begin catering to the people who want to RvR, want an endgame development scheme for their character at level 50 but do NOT want to be slaughtered in NF or Lab. There are many things they can give the low RR (under RR5) player without taking anything away from the NF player. If Mythic tries something new, and it drains away most of the population of NF and Lab, then what does that say about NF and Lab? Time for something new...Minor changes to the right areas of the game could go a long way. NF has seen enough investment, try investing somewhere else and see what happens.

ToA hands down... even tho artifacts and ML can now be bought its still very game destroying for many.
Coming as new player, or a Eu player that hasn't got /xsfer it's boring enough to have to 50, then ML10, CL 10 and then get all the artis and stuff to even start rvr. How did "let them buy" ToA stuff even help at all?
No wonder ppl stay in thid or Molvik, even tho can be hard if u don't have a lvl 50 glass/scale farming toon to support.
NF is okay but would like to see OF back and classic server!
Labby is a joke, it should be restricted to <RR5.
And ofc one should be committed of only one realm/account.

Lag and bug issues and anything really that is undermining the game working as intended is what will make me quit sometime in the near future.
I have to say also that if it were not for the dragon items, ML10 gear, holiday items, items, items, items, etc, etc, etc that the people that I got to try the game again would still be playing. Nearly every single person I have gotten to come back to daoc has quit within the first month because they just do not have it in them to come back and retemplate characters that have each seen half a dozen or more templates over just the few years before they quit playing. Items are boring and nobody cares about daoc's PvE. They all came back for RvR and within a week were sick of farming for crap to just get one single character out of dozens ready to try RvRing at an acceptable level again.
There are too many things that get in the way of players even wanting to return to the game. Even losing your house when housing is already such a headache to deal with makes it hard to want to come back.
There's a lot of truth in this post. I've thought for a long time, that they need to make your epic suit of armor COMPETITIVE in the modern game. Not a perfect template mind you, but allow new players and returning players to participate at a respectable level without the grind. With a set of epic accessories that fits in with the armor, imo, it should cap the important stats to the high +90's, all resists to 20+, high hits decent procs etc.
That would allow them to get out there and play NOW, and worry about making a perfect template with more toys later.

Ok, I just came back a couple of weeks ago and realm timers are needed. Also a nice graphics upgrade would be good. After being gone for 2 years I found the population very helpful overall. Someone posted about 1 hour for pvp zones but leave pve alone, very nice idea. People crying about rr5 pick a toon and stay with it for a while and you will make your rr levels.

realm timers. I like that idea above about only happening when in RvR zone.
And, give access to seasonal items. I come and go from the game and the ONLY seasonal item I have is MoH. I have been away from game during Haloween helm, dopple bracer, bunny legs, that other bracer, etc.
Get rid of "seasonal" rp bonuses. This is the only thing that should never change under any circumstances. Wasn't it RPx3 when laby came out? people getting RR7 in a week is dumb when so many people/chars got RP's at normal rates.

Mythic didn't seem to understand this concept:
Large Populations = Good for RvR
Large Population = Bad for PvE
With population numbers dwindling, they saw the need to cluster servers to keep their bread and butter going (RvR). This was very nice, and in fact made a lot of PvE that much easier, as you now had multiple PL spots and multiple spawn points for rarely spawning MOBs that even more rarely drop the items you need for your template. It also meant that if a multi-box farmer was hogging a particular spawn, you could go elsewhere and still potentially get what you needed. Then they decided to reduce it all to a shared zone everywhere but housing. Frustrates me all of the time.
The other big problem is the overpowered seasonal items. If they were on par with other items, then it wouldn't be as big of a problem, but when the utility of the items are far and above everything else out there, it's a blatant statement by Mythic that they DON'T want any players to return to Camelot.

Here's what I think are the major reasons:
- The game is 9 years old and you just need a change of pace.
- People/guilds you used to play with quit so now you have to pug or solo.
- Things have changed in your real life so you can no longer play as much, spend the time needed to keep your template up-to-date, afford a buff bot, etc.
- You used to play on a smaller server/cluster and find Ywain too zergy and the quality of soloing, small manning, and 8v8ing much less good.
- You are pissed off at all the numerous problems that Mythic never bothers to fix (Halloween moon, WS/con poison, warping pets, the Camelot Herald, the lag and ghosting, etc.), the seemingly random changes they make to screw players over (BG spellcrafting), or the things they promised to do but haven't (remove -Ywain#).
- You're sick of the endless campaign / re-itemization grind and the resulting need to constantly redo your templates.
someone should probably make another poll and exclude the other option if anyone really wants to know which one of those minor inconveniences have been a factor in making people leave the game but I would rather see one using Meddy's list since all of them are a lot more realistic reasons.
I've only quit 4 times so far but every time it was for some combination of the things listed above and all of those things together are keeping me quit for good this time along with the addition of the whole origins debacle.
