The foreign players can speak both their native language and English as well. They say their insults in their native language and you cannot understand them, but the other foreigners speaking their language do as well. They get away with this because you cannot understand them until you drop type it into the Google translator.


Do the game masters have translators? If not, they are putting English speaking players at a disadvantage because the TOSes will be one sided.


Again, each culture has different things that will offend them. Irish women are way more conservative when it comes to sex. In some customs, a handshake is bad manners and in some customs addressing the woman before a man is considered an insult.


Mythic is putting American players at a disadvantage and it's not being addressed properly. I didn't sign up to play on a server where I can be insulted by foreign players and have no recourse except to get banned from a GM who can't read foreign text in order to verify if the other player instigated something. "

Say what you will, but Div has a point that Mythic has very selective enforcement of the ToS when it comes to offensive language. If there was more offensive stuff involved then the CSR should have tagged that, and not what Div posted, because that's truly ridiculous to suspend someone over even if it's their 145th offense...highly selective enforcement here.

If Mythic suspended everyone over that language, most of the well known players here wouldn't have their accounts anymore. I used to keep a gallery of screen shots from VN e-tough guys & many well-known high RRs who went through great lengths to harass me in the most vile language you can imagine, simply for playing the game!

Not a single one of them ever got suspended to my knowledge, as I watched them go on playing the rest of the day and saw them again the next day. I'm talking pages long F-laced & homophobic rants directed at me in both /region and PMs...nothing. None of them ever got a suspension, and apparently not a warning either as I sometimes got harassed repeatedly by the same player the next day if I killed them again.


I can also agree that Mythic doesn't always handle international language insults or character naming in a prudent & expedient manner. If you make an offensive name in English for a toon, chances are you won't see the end of a single game day before being forced to change it. However, make up some blatantly offensive name in another language, and it can take days or weeks before some semi-competent CSR finally realizes that the various appeals on the matter may have a point.

However, if you don't understand what someone is saying to you, I don't think it makes sense to get too paranoid about it. Just be the bigger person and move on.

If you take the time to Google it, or ask another player of that country to get a translation, and use that to appeal to a CSR, the consequences should naturally be the same. Mythic should have native language CSRs for every major country represented in their game, so at least German, French, Korean, and Chinese among others. Appeals concerning foul language that the handling CSR doesn't understand (and can't Google) should be forwarded to these international CSRs to handle.


We're all in the same boat here, playing a dying game! Euro players did not come to Ywain by choice anymore then you did, they came here to play the game in the way it was meant to be played...with a population large enough to support large-scale RvR.

Considering the amount of racist and elitist crap that I read in /region every single day from immature/insecure English speakers, berating all non-English Euro players as a group simply for being from the same continent (never mind that they're all individual countries, languages, and cultures!), it's no surprise that you're going to reap what you sow. In the end, you're only hurting the games lifespan by alienating players from other countries, not to mention that you're re-enforcing bad stereo types abroad of your own country of origin.

Can't we all just get along like the grown-ups we're supposed to be?

True to an extent wind...its a bad thing that they have to "waste" the limited resources that they have atm..to even spend time on things like this. But Shadora had it coming...blabs in region every night non stop..the even sadder thing right now is..he has limited himself to 1 night every 2 weeks (1 night every month so he said in region) of playing the game...so if only playing 1 day/night out of 30 ..and this still happens... ? lol Mythic has always been pretty easy on this sort of thing..unless you go directly out of your way to do it on purpose... and the harassment appeal usualy cures it quickly.

I find it interesting that he says one guy with 2 accounts /appealed him but then he says the comments weren't directed at any one person
