G'day,

Here's the compiled version of Wine with the Catacombs Patch for Ubuntu 10.04 and Linux Mint 9...

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?hx3zdj1ohz8kvvs

This version is what is working on my Wife's computer to play DAOC and it works well. We have not seen any probs with the mouse. If peeps have any probs it'll be no drama to recompile with whatever patch you need.

To enable Catacombs models:
open the Wine Config programme --> Graphics Tab --> Vertex Shader Support - Hardware and Allow Pixel Shader

This is working on a MSI Lappy with Nvidia 9300M. The version for 8.10 which I will post works on an old Acer lappy with ATI X1300.

Hope this helps...

Cheers
Finglor

IMPORTANT: Uninstall the previous version of Wine before installing this!!!

edit: At times it's a little difficult to launch and may require a second double-click soon after the hour-glass disappears

Wow, this is just awesome! Thanks Finglor! I'm putting this on a flash drive for sure!

Tried wine 1.3.16 last night. Mouse "lags" in game, very badly, into the point that it's not usable. In character selection it works fine

Had to downgrade back to 1.3.12. My system runs osx snow leopard though.

G'day,

FYI - EggiSohwyn's custom mod works fine using Wine on Ubuntu - haven't tried the customiser app yet but a quick look shows that it probably works.

Cheers

Just wish I could get a updated graphics driver for this old 9600 card I'm using on this Linux box.
The driver that comes with Ubuntu works, and does a good job, but, it seems a bit slow. (since its most likely
around 2 years old)

Other than that. My linux works great running the game.

I must give mucho thanko-s to posting the WINE version patched for Ubuntu mouse and Catacombs models! I just got around to installing it again, using the WINE HQ FAQ to completely remove the Software Center installed version.

Working like a charm! The only extra things I had to do, as indicated previously, is to remove the Z: drive map and change the sound to OSS instead of ALSA. The music was choppy then disappeared completely with ALSA, not so with OSS. Woot for nice character models again!

The only issue I have now that does not really affect me is that I cannot alt-tab without having to log out to the character select screen to clear a video lockup. My character still works and sounds right and can cast, but the screen is stuck, video-wise, after an alt/tab. Not a deal breaker by any stretch.

Again, thanks oodles!

try using a virtual desktop via the "winecfg" command. I set mine for my screen's resolution

The one time I enabled Virtual Desktop resulted in windowed mode play, which I refuse to use. Was it perhaps because the Virtual desktop was smaller than my real desktop resolution? Will it automatically fill the screen or will it result in a window that I must maximize (that STILL wont go full screen)?

Use daoc in full screen mode.
Wine in Virtual Desktop with your full screen resolution.

It'll look and behave as if you're in full screen mode normally and you can't tell a difference. Alt-tab will work great and you can alt-tab instantaneously with no lag (I couldn't do this in Windows). Great for running multiple accounts or just in general.
