You could try to use the devel version of wine, aka 1.3.15 or something. Funny thing with wine is that the devel versions have been pretty stable.

You'll always need the hack patch to enable catacombs models, without it the game will crash if you have cats models enabled. What the patch does is basically lie about a feature it supports to the game, but in fact wine doesn't have the feature... allows you to play with cats models but it gives some graphic anomalies like the ToA water being foobar.

Anyway the patch is so simple you only need to add 1 line to the dlls/wined3d/directx.c file.. so if the patch command fails, just do it manually with an editor.

Umm, didn't crash for me and I'm running cats models. No patching

ATI card I presume?! I believe ATI's closed source driver is about the only one that implements the required driver support.. it's not an issue on windows, since directx will emulate the support if the driver doesn't provide it.. but wine doesnt do that, hence the crash.

Anyway been quite a while since I looked into it.. and haven't kept up2date on wine development.. but chances that it was going to be implemented were pretty slim to none.

Actually, nVidia card, using Mac Book Pro with Snow Leopard. And wine version I'm using is 1.3.12, installed via macports.

I got mine working too, but I think i've lost sanity points in the process.. Here' what I did:

sudo apt-get remove wine
sudo apt-get remove wine1.3
wine camelot

Running perfectly now. (I haven't rebooted yet, I suppose things might change then..) Bwuh? But I hadn't reinstalled yet? What's going on here?

You might have a manually compiled version in /usr/local/bin?

Option b) is that you had wine running in some form when you removed it. Which means there's a file descriptor still present for the file, so it's not removed yet. Logging out or killing all instances of wine will probably remove wine completely from your system... This is all just speculation though

G'day,

JusticeZerO - that's kinda wierd but I think you had two versions of wine installed and it probably only could uninstall one version leaving the other (perhaps original on there).

If given enough time I will compile Wine with patch for a number of versions - already have a version for 8.10 and 10.04. Will put them on my mediafire account for downloading. Give me a little time and I'll do 10.10 if ppl want it.... and 8.04 will be done soonish too...

Cheers

If you are talking about compiling a version of WINE for Ubuntu 10.04 with the Catacombs models patch and the mouse bug patch, then making it available for download, you would so rock!

G'day,

Here's the compiled version of Wine with the Catacombs Patch for Ubuntu 10.04 and Linux Mint 9...

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?hx3zdj1ohz8kvvs

This version is what is working on my Wife's computer to play DAOC and it works well. We have not seen any probs with the mouse. If peeps have any probs it'll be no drama to recompile with whatever patch you need.

To enable Catacombs models:

open the Wine Config programme --> Graphics Tab --> Vertex Shader Support - Hardware and Allow Pixel Shader

This is working on a MSI Lappy with Nvidia 9300M. The version for 8.10 which I will post works on an old Acer lappy with ATI X1300.

Hope this helps...

Cheers

Finglor

IMPORTANT: Uninstall the previous version of Wine before installing this!!!

edit: At times it's a little difficult to launch and may require a second double-click soon after the hour-glass disappears
