Thanes have to sacrifice to get this non-weapon no +to hit, no 200 delve dd follow up, side stun. It pales in comparison.

So long story short, you want the same procs as 6.0 scythes for your 1-handed thanes ?

weaponspeed and 1h/2h means nothing if the damage is the same. Vale can easily accomplish 250-350 damage at cap speed before procs. Thats all a thane can do at cap speed. Thane can do a little more on weak targets but not at cap speed and certainly not without the help of an aug spec healer. Vale's can do it all on their own.
I think my argument stands. Trust me a solo vale will output much more melee dps then a solo thane.
Worse yet is the Pally - Armsman duo. That is sick dps. No thane or Vale combo can compete with that kind of setup.

Cool! Now you talk about solo.
Btw, who was talking about group utility in the 1st place?
This is it, more melee damage won't help you with your group utility, period.
You should have made the topic's name like "I want thanes to be op class, just like necro, minst, savage or lock"
Seriously, thanes have a long road be a bad class with no group utility. Many others are babies compared to thane's utility in grp.

No I didn't, no they don't, and no it doesn't.
1) I have a PhD in psychiatric medicine.
2) If you're not a caster thane like a smart person, then you still get an 8 second side stun, 150dd chain of your choosing, and the final 2 instas. Oh yeah, you also get a more useful RR5 and access to WoC AND ST for restun gayness. And you can debuff your own damage.
3) If you think all that pales in comparison to the Valewalker side chain, then you must have studied Economics.
Just because you have to spec in another line for a better set of skills doesn't mean it's worse.

Are you joking? A VW/Warden combo will rip them to shreds, not even a close contest. The only time they even might make a fight of it is if the Pally has his RR5 up, so once every 15m, but they all better be carrying buff pots cuz they're gonna be swinging nekkid real quick.
I'm almost 100% sure a competent Thane/Valk combo would beat them as well, but a Valk in a duo with a Sav/Skald/Zerker should also rip their nads off and stuff'em down their throats with ease. As would just about any Skald melee duo with Sav/Zerker.
Sick melee DPS is not Albs forte', it's Mids... 
The last thing Mid needs is for Thanes to become a more melee DPS focused class, they have plenty already that are unmatched in any other realm.
There are plenty of Thanes out there doing real well in duos/trios, and thus the question begs why you're not among them? I've actually seen a lot of Thanes out lately in duos and trios, certainly not as popular as some of the clearly OPd classes, but very much on par with the number of Paladins, Wardens, Champs, and Heretics you see out.

B0xy, I like how much you have to bring to the table to prove your point. You basically just said vale's side chain is as strong as the whole thane class.
And Armsman - pally is insane right now. I would argue it's stronger than any other duo. For all my gripes about thanes vs VW etc, I think a arms+pally duo would rip even a vale/warden in a matter of seconds if they got cought in melee.

My money would be on the VW / Warden. Having played all 4 classes, the paladin's dps is pretty limp, even with 2H. Both groups would have celerity / damage add, but the albs wouldn't have the warden's pbae heal proc or pbt, and the VW is honestly about on par with an arms for dps when you count in style procs (Especially when you factor in that one is a pbae style procs).
But really none of it matters. Whoever gets a stun that sticks off first will be the winner.
