The game is very confusing.. but most of that stuff is just for when you want to move up in difficulty. On lower difficulties you can just spam warriors and win Plus, it's turn-based, so you have plenty of time to think about your turn.. not like playing SC2 where some gosu korean can do 300 actions per minute and beat you before you build your first SCV.

Adam if you want me to coach you just say so.

Maybe I'll give it a try, 30 bucks on steam for Civ4 + expansions. Although honestly, on youtube the game makes 0 sense.

Edit: Eh screw it, downloading it now and will give it a try tonight.

Watch that guy's Let's Play for Civ4. I learned a lot doing it.. but the games last forever(this guy can win in like 1-2 hours.. but I've spent 10+ hours on one game).

And frankie, my micro/macro skills just wont get any better. They're good enough that I can own pretty hard with micro intensive heroes in HoN/dota.. but that's about it. When it comes to macroing a 4 expansion zerg base.. I'm just too white.

That's why you play Terran (Easiest to macro in my opinion) or death-ball Brotoss. Even I can't handle the macro / micro of high zerg play.

Read the intro articles, and refer back to it for specific questions you have.. Or ask, but best bet is to read some introductory stuff or you're gonna have like 3 trillion questions.

Zavitz, here's what you do to get started.

You have two units, a settler who can build a city and warrior or scout.

Send the warrior or scout out to find little villages and discover the map. When you find a little circle of huts you get gold, a map or a new unit.

Use your settler to build a city asap. That's yoru capital city, then make a unti to guard then start making workers to improve it.

Just pick what ever technology sounds cool at this point, like if you have a lot of cows near, pick animal husbandry or a lot of rice paddies, pick farming. Building cottages makes gold for you, so pick pottery. That kind of thing.

Don't try to win yet, just enjoy building your civilization. As you become familiar then you can start trading with other nations, destroy them or make goals for a type of victory, you can be voted king of the world, you can build the biggest population and cover the most area to win, you can slaughter all your enemies, you win a cultural victory by having a ton of culture in three cities, etc, etc.

Make cities, kill barbarians, build stuff. Cake.

Alright well, here's gonna be my opening strategy. I'm pretty much gonna play this game like Sim City and ignore the fact there is other factions.

I have no idea why, but I'm completely in love with the main menu music.
