So I'm making one.

I've beat the game on Prince level and haven't made it past that. I'm usually Ghengis Khan or Roosevelt. I prefer the fractual map type, although sometimes I do lakes. I'm almost always Russia (Katherine of course) I've made a Pyckle Empire. Cities named Pycklestien, St Pycklesburg, Gerkin, Vlasyk, etc. I always name my cities according to location and objective. For example Jarr usually has a central location and barrack and wells and produced the majority of my troops. Pycklestein, St Pycklesburg and Pycklestow are usually my cultural centers with Pycklestow being by the water.

Favorite troop? Cossack of course! Horse nut. /shrug

I usually play on emperor. I'm a huge fan of pericles, or any of the cheese financial civs. Big n Small is an awesome map type, but I like fractual and pangaea and continents as well.

A big thing going into the harder difficulties is managing the first like 50 turns perfectly(right tile usage, and unit builds), and learning not to spam buildings/wonders. Also city specialization is really important.. hammer/military city, food/GPP city, commerce/wall street or academy city.

The game is so darned complicated that I'm unsure why it's so fun.

You should give it a try. There are so many facets to the game(city management, troop management, worker/improvement management, diplomacy, expanding, which way to go up the technology tree(which is huge), the attitude of all the leaders(shaka is an ass, ghandi is a pussy), and the list goes on and on).

I spent a lot of time lurking over at civfanatics and watching/reading other's let's plays. There's a lot of little things that you'd have never thought of if you didn't watch someone else do it(like when to whip with slavery).

I would play but most of my time would probably be spent in the red light district of Gherkin.

Also, isn't "Gandhi is a pussy" on Churchill's grave?

It's such a waste to be wasted in the first place
I wanna taste the taste of being face to face with common grace
To meditate on the warmest dream
And when I walk alone, I listen to our secret theme
