what if he hit a pole in the dark? or face planted because of a pothole?

I once saw a drunk kid hit a 4x4 metal bus stop sign on his bike, he just sorta stopped moving, and tipped over in one piece. It would have been comical if not for him falling into the street.

I mean, yeah, maybe that could've happened, but I was sober at the time. I take the road I assume I was on when it happened every day and know where all the potholes are, and never ride on the sidewalk so I can't imagine I hit a pole.
I guess it doesn't really matter what happened. Noone is going to come forward out of guilt, hit and runs are pretty much the norm in Philly when someone hits a biker.

Funny I almost always wear a helmet. Today halfway home I realized I had left it at work

Damn man, hope everything turns out good for you. Glad to hear you're doing well (or as well as possible) now, lucky you didn't sustain more damage.

in your honest opinion should the driver have seen you?

if yes, than file a report

maybe they nailed a DUI around where you got hurt

take care of yourself

concussions aren't anything to mess with

hope you don't have more than a concussion to deal with
