I'm interested in it for two reasons (and a third I can't talk about here for now):
1) It's Bioware. The only company I see really able to rival Blizzard on the actual market.
2) It's Sci-Fi. A big breath of fresh air. No fairies, pixies, trolls, orcs, gnomes, dwarves. Spaceships as housing, travel to different planets, laser beams, lightsabers, aliens, "Boba Fett wannabe" bounty hunters. Yay, please give me some more, I'm sick of medieval/heroic fantasy games.

It most certainly will anyway. To which extend will be decided by both how good Trion are gonna be in the near future, and how good SW:TOR will be at release. I already have the answer to one of those points, but it's the third reason I can't talk about yet

SWTOR: 50 Jedi Shadow (Tank), 50 Sith Marauder (Annihilation).
LOTRO: Lifetime account, playing very casually.
WoW: Both accounts canceled for now.
GW2: Future Warrior.

Well, for the bored people, there's hope...

Of course there is Rift, but also:

Everyone at BioWare and EA is working to ensure that Star Wars: The Old Republic is delivered at the quality level you expect from BioWare and Star Wars.

?Star Wars: The Old Republic is expected to launch this year after the close of EA's fiscal 2011 (which ends March 31st, 2011). Information on the release date and pre-order programs will be released as it becomes available.

This is good news for bored people, but bad ones for Rift... apparently, SW:TOR will release just after the first free month included with the game purchase. Smart move, if you ask me.

Bioware's lost their way imo, esp after the gawd awful decision to get in bed with EA, destroyer of game studios. Bioware is no longer the RPG gurus they used to be (Baldur's / NWN), now they just want to crank our console games, and ugh, PC console ports. And they completely abandoned the modding community (no editor for DA 2? Kiss my arse)

I've grown to hate all things Star Wars anyway, Lucas ruined it for me long ago, with his constant repackaging, re-releasing, re-editing (Han shot first, period), rehashing, and then there was the travesty of those second group of movies, killed it for me. Jar Jar should have never seen the light of day. SW to me is just a bad sci-fi joke now.

Oh, hey look, another "neener neener I know something you don't hahaha" comment. The adults among us realize there's no point in telling everyone you know something but can't say what it is unless you're fishing for adoration. To which crowd does this type of comment pander, exactly?

Although I think the point has long since been made.

I wish SW or whatever it is the best of luck. I watched the originals at the theaters when they first released and thought they were funny campy flashbacks of the old Saturday Morning Westerns the kids used to watch in black and white (which I've also seen.) Which I believe was Lucas's intent. Seeing them turned into a cult or whatever just cracks me up.

Whatever works.

There's enough market share to go around, thanks to WoW growing the genre. Ironic huh.
