Why use real names, when character names are 100% sufficient for the exact same thing?

I hear this. Why wasn't it a Battle.net username instead of our real name? I don't get it. it's essentially the same thing.. only with my real name people can find out info on me that i don't know they can find out about me because myself and 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of people in the world would never care to look for it.

My name here is Sarnsereg, Why can't my Name for cross server be Sarnsereg too instead of my real name?

What I find most ironic, is that we can already ignore players from other realms to insure that we DON'T get put in a group with them, with only using character names and realm..

... but to do the opposite somehow requires a Real name, and Real-ID...

So you'll give them all your info, and even your credit card, but won't use your name to talk to your friends cross-server/games. Sounds about right.

That's just stupid. The reason Real ID sucks so bad isn't the fact they will know your name. It's the fact that you have to give them your email address that you use to log into WoW.

So, again, you don't trust your friends. Check.

There are different levels of friends, there are ingame friends, work friends and personal friends. I only want personal friends to have my email address.

Its an attempt by them to make money off on my personal information. aka FaceBook.

anyone else think that this stinks of "milking" the customer?

We already pay 15 USD or Euro / month...and they are trying to nickle and dime us on top of that?

lol, good luck.

If I am paying a monthly sub, I expect you to give me bucket loads of content and all new features....

but wait...they are failing on the content and everything else.....So, I guess that explains what we are quiting

They said "certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based". CERTAIN elements. So I'm waiting to see what they mean before I complain.

This said, Real ID is turned off for me and will remain so. And if the changes make me unable to play the game without turning on Real ID and without being "premium", I will simply cancel my accounts.

For now, wait and see.

How many people have RL friends not on their server? How did this happen? I can see it where some people don't want a PvP server play style while others did. Other than that, meeting people later on in RL who also are in game would be my only guess.

I have three RL friends of mine, whom I met outside of and before WoW, who now play WoW with their significant other on whatever server they got them to play on. It is kind of nice to be able to chat cross realm, however, the privacy thing is a concern and I only give my email out to those that I personaly know and trust. Maybe it will bite me in the ass, but I really doubt it.

They should spend less time working on 'premium' content and instead focus on keeping WoW a great game for the whole population.

They seem to have given up trying to innovate and create a great GAME. Instead they are reusing old content, skimped on the expansion with less levels, and creating 'premium' items for people to buy through their store. It seems very opportunistic of them to try to sell premium content in their fix to queue times.

My guess is the certain elements will be tied to being able to queue with people of your choosing from other realms.

Hopefully they'll backtrack like they did with RealID.
