Lol @ all the super paranoid people who won't use RealID.

You people are really untrustworthy of your friends.

I don't really care if it costs money or not...as I would entertain the idea of using this IF and ONLY if it had nothing to do with Real-ID.

If you know a (friend's) character's name, class, and realm, what in the fawk do you need their "Real-ID" for???

As someone already stated, this is 100% Bobby "Facebook" Kotick still pushing the failure that is Real-ID.

It isn't being paranoid about ones friends...

Its being paranoid with Blizzard transmitting your private information all over the Earth when it really serves no valid purpose to do so...

So you'll give them all your info, and even your credit card, but won't use your name to talk to your friends cross-server/games. Sounds about right.

certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based

Rob Pardo, Blizzard senior VP posted:

We chose to go with the subscription-based model instead of that approach. We've taken the approach that we want players to feel like it's a level playing field once they're in WoW. Outside resources don't play into it -- no gold buying, etc. We take a hard line stance against it. What you get out of microtransactions is kind of the same thing and I think our player base would feel betrayed by it. I think that's something else you have to decide on up-front instead of implementing later.

Mounts, pets, even stuff like mobile AH weren't really crossing into the Micro-transaction territory. This one sure is.

I thought we paid a subscription to avoid this stuff?

and "So you'll give them all your info, and even your credit card, but won't use your name to talk to your friends cross-server/games. Sounds about right." SO true!

I give them my info, and CC information for business purposes between myself, and Blizzard. Many companies have my information...

My friends already know my "RL" info...and with it, they can contact me IRL and therefore also know my character names(which are completely adequate for gaming purposes)...which is all one should need to form a group.

I do not need Blizzard transmitting my info (which is only given to them for business purposes) in order to communicate with my friends.

Bottom line, it is MY information, and I decide what happens to it.

Real ID, disabled. Period.

That's just stupid. The reason Real ID sucks so bad isn't the fact they will know your name. It's the fact that you have to give them your email address that you use to log into WoW.

So, again, you don't trust your friends. Check.

Why would I do something that would give the trust I have in my friends a chance to fail? Just because I choose not to give out personal information doesn't mean I don't trust my friends, it means I prefer to keep my private information private.
