Interesting fact that Deathwing Raid will be part of this patch, and the fact that it might sound like they have to scrap another Raid. I wonder if the scrapping of the Raid has nothing to do with how it worked, but just much more to do with the fact that they want to now move past Cata as fast as possible and get onto the next Expansion, and hence just didn't have time to really fit the other raid into the game, even if it was not quite what they wanted.
I was having this exact conversation earlier today. Still, it seems a long, long time between now and the next expansion. I wonder what if they have anything planned to coincide with SWKOR and GW2 launches.
P.S. This kind of sucks for druids...

They're going to have to do better than giving us the ability to play dress up with our e-dolls to get me to come back.
This is definitely some low hanging fruit. Not that hard to implement, and a lot of people will be pumped by this... Over 7 years Wow has released some pretty cool armor skins.

I still have a set of Twill armor on a mule, gonna bring sexy back.

For a man who's truly skilled,
Can look quite good in Twill."

Awesome I can go back to my shiny level 60 vanilla WoW Hunter Grand Marshal PVP gear look for PVP!
And like someone else mentioned there is going to be a whole lot of people farming old raids to collect sets if it ends up being required.
What they should do though is have it only for converting new set pieces to old set piece look not just any armour piece to an old set piece look.
Hmm? I have to look in storage and see what I still have, think I might have the MC set for my Pally and most of the pieces from Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.

Uh, why? There are plenty of current armor sets that I would love on my Ret Paladin, that don't match *at all* because the Boots/Belt are always DK or Warrior skins. Same goes for off-set pieces that don't match. Under your "idea" I would HAVE to go back to t1-t6, and be unable to use current gear to make a matching set, that I can't do under current circumstances.

Of course, there is a HUGE chance that blizzard will screw this up.
I foresee them making arbitrary restrictions that defeat the whole point, or not letting you change weapon looks (only armor), or any other number of stupidities that only blizzard B team could do.

The picture shows them with old weapons, so there is a chance. It might just be for the picture, but who knows.

Looking through the old blue trackers on this topic, I found this kind of funny:

" This isn't an appropriate way to get our attention."
LOL, yep, about a million people dropping their subs does the trick though

This is awesome! OMG I would LOVE to have my warlock sporting another seasons gear! I can't remember which one atm... but the one with the random wings that come out of the helmet!

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*

To be fair, it's not an appearance tab.
Also, after actually READING the FAQ for the Transmogrifier...
"Similarly, they won’t allow you to change weapon or armor types. Sneaky death knights can’t make that breastplate look like a cloth robe, and you can’t make a one-handed axe look like a two-handed axe, or transform a sword’s appearance into that of a mace. Guns, bows, and crossbows will be the exception to this rule. You will finally be able to retain your dwarf’s racial gun bonus while appearing with all the splendor and elegance of a bow wielder (or at least the relative silence of one)."
So yeah, you can change weapons.

i don't really like the gear appearance customization since i think its a fun part of the strategic pvp to adjust my tactics based on telling whether a person has offensive or defensive gear equipped. call me old fashioned but i think its fun if you have to factor in how gear looks in addition to stats when choosing what to wear...i don't really like too much cookie cutter.
Old fashioned is actually the opposite. In "old school" MMOs like UO and AC, you could choose the appearance as well as the stats. You could look like you wanted and have the "best" stats. This is actually going back to old school.
PS: if they really make this work on weapons, we gonna see a ton of dual wielded thunderfury... but it would be cool to be able to use the DK blue starter sword skin, best "runic sword" skin of the game.

SWTOR: 50 Jedi Shadow (Tank), 50 Sith Marauder (Annihilation).
LOTRO: Lifetime account, playing very casually.
WoW: Both accounts canceled for now.
GW2: Future Warrior.
