You can all let me know about this several months into the game. Last thing I want is to get in a game thinking it's pwnage, only to get to the level cap and find out it's the most boring garbage on the planet (Like Warhammer). Least WoW has me entertaining a bit with Wintergrasp and crafting crap and selling the gold at a decent rate. I may return to DAOC but trying something new so early into it? Won't happen again. So keep me posted.

I moved into a new place back in august, the good news is that the house is set up to run internet connection(for cable modem) to each room. The bad news, all the lines run into the basement and are all uncapped and untouched. So I have an external nic card that connects to the network wirelessly, but it only connects locally and won't connect to the internet. Long story short, I took drastic steps last night and just moved my desktop down to the living room where the router is. Only now that I have a hardline connection, I'm still getting the same problem. It connects locally but won't connect to the internet. It gives me some 815 error (or was it 315 error), something about the error with the user name or something, which doesn't make sense to me since I have *never* come across this problem before when running a connection through a router before.

My work laptop connects no problem when i chose the network and put in the password, and the same for my roommates. Yes, I'm running vista, but at my last place I never had this problem, I just plugged in the connection and I was off and running. What gives?

so you can get an ip address from your router, but you cannot actually get outside? you could check to ensure that your wireless NIC (or hardwired nic for that matter) doesn't have a static default gateway or ip address. Then check to ensure that you dont have any proxy settings on your browser. if so then it could be attempting to hit a proxy that doesnt exist before going out.

you could also go to a command prompt, try to ping the default gateway. If that works, try pinging something outside on the internet like 4.2.2.1 (its a dns server). to see if its passing at least some traffic.

Cool, hopefully I'll see some of those guys out in the Abyss. I don't particularly like how the 'evil' faction looks in this game (tails? really?), which is why I went with Elyos. They get shiny armor and look super sweet.

No proxy settings, and I never had this issue before and I've used a lot of different connections previously. It won't let me ping anything outside of the local network and won't connect to the internet.

I've tried resetting the router and the password, but no luck, but my laptop connects (and all of my roommates laptops) np. The wireless nic card is linksys, as is the router, and i get the same issue as I do when I try to connect with a hard line. So I doubt it's the cards.

@Guud - If one computer works and the other doesn't see if the TCP/IP properties are different between the two. You should find that poking around in the networking properties somewhere. Don't have Vista, so can't tell you exactly where to look. If there is a diff, set things up like the machine that works.

I have a 15 chanter on Siel Server. Chooch if you guys decide you want to reroll Asmodae to play with BT it only takes 3 hours to ascend again. I did it 7 times in beta with a 2:30 being my best time with a ranger.


Dunno how well you guys remember me, but I'd be happy to play along on Triniel too, there are a few uber guilds on Elyos on Siel server also if you're interested. I'll try to find you guys when I log in later on today.

Fixed it, the IP4 protocol was trying to use a specific IP address (not sure why), so I just had to reset it to automatically obtain the address. Rolled my warrior, Guud
