Graphics are nice and all, but the gameplay gets boring real fast for me.

ive only read a few posts on the 1st page but here is my review of Aion

Aion is your traditional korean grind grind grind grind grind fest

the pvp theory is great, but the actual system needs major refinement. it could be as good as DAoC, but only if they change the timers on certain things.

right now forts, like keeps in daoc, are only attackable in the abyss (the flight combat area, where only ranged win, because of broken melee flight mechanics) on the weekends for 2 hrs at a time, if no one shows up to attack, then they go back to unattackable after 35 mins. they need to modify the timers. imo make it every day or every other day attackable every 3-5 hrs or just go DAoC and make it attackable all the time.

as chooch mentioned there are rifts for ground pvp in the enemy pve territories, which is great and all, except for the fact that the rifts have lvl caps. so of the two possible areas to rift to, you can only go to one area until 45, and at 45 only thru 1 rift, and the other area till 50 but only thru two rifts, there are 7 rifts per "zone". they need to take out the lvl caps, because it is retarded.

the pvp rewards are armor/weapons and stigmas (somewhat like RAs but not really) the armor and weapons are better than the pve counterparts only to the extent that they have more slots for socketting +stat gems. 6 instead of 4. even the pvp gear is grindy to get because the pvp for AP (rps) is spotty. the good gear takes medals which can only be obtained through fortress attacks and defense. and as i said before its only on the weekends... however they are tradable/sellable

there is a 3rd "realm" of npcs that attack the forts and take them over, but they are currently ez modeish and there arent enough to combat the defenders of a well defended fort.

pve is decent aside from the grind, the instanced dungeons are fun and the story line is pretty good.

the penalty for death is extremely harsh in pve. not only do you lose xp, but you have the option to buy it back through soul healing which is the biggest waste of money ever. its extremely expensive. and the suggestion is to never buy back your xp.

drop rate is the worst ive seen in any game ever. period. its horrible.

I tried it for like 1 day and hated it.

I'm waiting for Star Trek Online... I know it sounds lame... but the United Federation of Lexi kinda appeals to me and I wanna blow your noobish ships out of my galactic empire!

How does Aion earn as high a grade as 7/10 based on that review? lol

I'm waiting to see some player reviews of Star Trek Online when the NDA is lifted. It's hard for me to tell at this point whether it's a game I'd find at all fun, so I'll be deciding whether to play or not heavily based on what other players say about it. (It was very obvious to me Aion wasn't going to be a game I'd like prior to release.)

i got to 24 in Aion and quit.... sucked. grinding is not fun. Star Wars KOTOR online looks to be the next good one hopefully. anything that can hold my interest for more than a month would be nice.
