Some people get so emotionally invested in these games that when they get disappointed, they just don't take it well at all. Sad but we see it every single MMO release.

I'm level 28 and I just hit Alderaan, seems like a cool place so far. I didn't like Tatooine that much, although it looked as it should.
I'm not sure this is a 4-5 year game like WoW. I can't believe I played WoW for 7 years (with some breaks). I don't think this one will last that long for me, but so far I like it.

I went ahead and bought the game and I would say it isnt to impressive so far. There is more talk about WoW in the general chat than TOR.
I think the graphics are pretty terrible.
The sounds are about what is expected out of a Star Wars title.
The Quest dialogue is good but I dont see how that will carry the game past the 6 month mark when people have rolled multiple alts and are tired of it.
Not nearly enough MMO in this MMORPG. Its almost as if Bioware started making a single player game and halfway through they ( or EA ) decided to make it an MMO.
So far I have played a Jedi Consular ( 14 ) and a Bounty Hunter ( 10 ) and the combat is just flat out boring / uninspiring.
I will keep at it until the first month is up and then decide if I will continue playing just incase something changes.
Edit : I would be willing to roll onto another server if anyone is interested in playing together.

I don't understand the point of even mentioning this because it's true of virtually every single MMO out there right now.

Really? So the point of having meaningful game chat drowned out by rants about WoW escapes you? Hmm.

I never said it was good or bad, I'm just pointing out that you can go to any other MMO on the market and whatever goes for a public chat channel in that particular MMO they will 9 times out of 10 be talking about WoW and whether it sucks/is awesome. Therefore bringing it up in regards to a new MMO is fairly pointless since it happens in any MMO.

Characters ramp up in power slower than in WoW nowadays, where you get everything handed to you by level 10. At 10 and 14, you have very little room to judge how your class really behaves.
I'm 41 with my Consular/Shadow/Tank (Kinetic) (yes, I level as tank... works fine!), and combat is a blast. Not to mention Bioware are the first after Blizzard to get that awesome responsiveness in combat. I'd say you really start to feel the "real" power of your class at 20-25, as it should be with a game that has real character development and talents that actually mean something.

Which is funny, because Bioware NEVER lied about their game. We knew long ago exactly what is was going to be like. Yes, it's a theme park MMO, with a "twist" because of omnipresent voice acting. It's possibly because I entered this game awaiting just another mediocre clone like Rift or Warhammer that I was NOT disappointed, since SW:TOR crushes Rift in almost every aspect except the UI (and I suspect that won't last). I take a game with good story and gameplay anytime over an utterly boring crap game with poor unresponsive combat anytime anyway, even if the second has a better UI.

SWTOR: 50 Jedi Shadow (Tank), 50 Sith Marauder (Annihilation).
LOTRO: Lifetime account, playing very casually.
WoW: Both accounts canceled for now.
GW2: Future Warrior.

Maybe but I am not playing a game that doesnt take off until its over half way done especially when I would want to play multiple classes. If I wanted to play 4 different classes then I am looking at 80+ levels of mind numbing boredom? That doesnt inspire me to play at all. The game isnt fun enough to me to keep me pushing on. I probably would have been happier with a Dragon Age MMO than a Star Wars MMO though ( if you can even call TOR an MMO at this stage ).
And the last I played WoW was 4+ years ago and I dont remember anything being handed to me then. Maybe thats how it is now.. I dont know. I know LoTRO and EQ2 are now really easy ( EQ2 especially if you use a mercenary ).
