I will never vote for a candidate that runs their entire campaign on the basis of their religious beliefs. It's an instant down vote.
Expressing your beliefs and saying that you'll govern/legislate based on them is one thing. A lot of religious beliefs are pretty benign and mesh well with common sense morality. Creating an entire campaign based around on worshiping your respective deity is a whole other can of worms...

I didn't, either.
IMO though, it is a valid thing to know about a person going into public office. It DEFINITELY gives insight into the way he thinks and presents himself to those in his closest circles. It tells me one of two things:
1) It is a long, long way to go to stage a political appearance
2) He's as bizarre on this issue as Paul is considered to be on, say, Foreign policy
Either way, it is (one of many) strikes against him in my book.

I would venture to guess that 95% of the folks on the OP didn't know about it either.
Then someone here got an email, saw an article on Huffington Post (or something similar) or heard it on some liberal radio/tv show.

Like I said, Alan Colmes is the guy who brought it up last week. He was trying to make a point of how crazy Santorum is by mentioning that he took home his dead baby to play with. He was forced to make an apology afterward, but by then it was already all over the political blogs.

The stillbirth crap is weird. Having kids play with anything dead is weird.
I understand looking at it and stuff but playing with it? WTF?
We are talking President of the USA. We are not interviewing this guy for a managerial position at S-Mart.

The same twisted windsnipes could be used against funerals, wakes, cremation, or any other way that people handle the death of loved ones.
Its funny that most of the people commenting negatively about the private family business of Santorum are the same people that meltdown about him sticking his nose in people's bedroom business.
So many little Santorums running around here.
