The C-Span interview was in 1998. Their son died in 1996. My objection wasn't to the notion that they hadn't publicized their child's death - obviously they had. My objection was to characterizing it as a media circus, where Rick filmed it and the children were interviewed about it the next day. I can find nothing to verify either of these claims.
There's no way in hell I'm listening to an hour of those two droning on for an hour, but if there's anything in there that supports Ptilk's statement, then I'll take the /selfpwn on this and move on.

I don't care enough to watch a full hour of crazy either. Only reason I mentioned it was because I read a transcript of the interview and saw a clip last week and it disgusted the hell out of me.
I'm pretty sure we will almost all agree that it was a pretty weird thing to do but fits in with the radical religious rights modus. Hell, Barbara Bush brought home a miscarried fetus in a jar and showed it to George Bush back in the day....so maybe this kind of stuff is more common than I ever thought.  |

It's weird to me, but like I said I'm not going to judge his family for his beliefs or how they deal with something so profound. If nothing else it gives me a bit of smug satisfaction because Santorum HOPES to force others to accept his beliefs. And that's what people should be talking about.

The people that don't consider a fetus human, get shocked and outraged when others treat a fetus like a human.
ZZ seems to have the best grasp on this, allow the family to mourn their loss as they see fit.

Yeah of all the things to get mad at Santorum about that seems like a dumb one.
The guy is a grade-A douchecanoe, so much so that he makes other politicians - almost all grade-A douchecanoes - look positively sensible and gentlemanly.

Completely agreed.
Attack him for gay marriage. DADT. A hundred other things.
But attacking him and his family over the loss of a child is pretty fucking low ever for the Outpost.
