I would follow the sound of the screaming UPSes and turn on my computer monitor to light the way to my rechargeable flashlight that has a magneto in it. If it wasn't charged I can spin the crank and have it charged enough to get to my backpack which has my LED flashlights in it.
And I can't sleep through a power outage. Those UPS alarms are loud.

I would be lost and afraid. I would be sitting in the dark whimpering and remembering that I could have avoided this whole mess if I would have just listened to Paul. Damn me and my stubbornness!!!

Oh the one I used it called SleepMaster. It basically just runs while you sleep on your bed and picks up vibrations from you moving around. The theory being it is easier to wake up when you're moving a lot. How it works is when it is about time for the alarm to come off and it detects you moving a lot it'll wake you up. You can set the window for this detection before the wake time (I have mine for 15 mins)
Does it work? do you feel more refreshed when you wake up?

appropriate question. i just found out our nazi electricity company is turning off power to the entire zip code tonight for 10 hours. i'm charging my shop light batteries as we speak. making sure my cell phone and tablet are charged and digging up some glow sticks for my son to play with.

Sounds like they're doing work at the local substation - or perhaps a transformer replacement. Just guessing of course but that seems the only reason to take out power to an entire area.
