Playing the french tanks is kind of like what I imagine masturbating with a cheese grater would be like. Though I've read people swearing they're awesome at higher tiers.
I have a B1 I've been grinding with and TBH the tank can really take a beating...though it's typically at the top tier in its matches. Even being in matches with tier 1's through 3's its gun is probably the worst in game. Just turrible. I've gotten Sharpshooter three times today (back to back to back!) and got exactly ZERO kills in those three matches.
Like Scarne mentioned though, the lights go up to Tier 7 which is two higher than the other lines. I've even seen people in chat saying that French lights are OP /shrug

Play it with the long 75mm gun. It's awesome how that one can cut through a KV, especially if they don't see you and turn their side or back on you.
The French heavy tanks are a pain, at least up until Tier V. The B1 was pure suffering with the same gun the medium D1 had one tier down. I'm on the Bor BG1 (osomethin), and I still hate it, because now I'm in higher tier matches and a tank that doesn't cut it. Maybe it'll be better with a few more improvements, don't have it maxed yet.
Wait, what the heck am I worried about trying to get the discount on the Jagdpanther? I got 20k free XP floating around as "emergency reserve", I can easily take a couple k from that

Yeah pretty much my experiences.
got the BDR GIB(?) this friday, it looks like a huge joke and well, with 2 upgrades it's pretty shoddy, lol... don't look forward to ARL 44 that much.
