Sorry, running a DOL emulation on your home PC and comparing the NF lag against what you see in game with 200+ poeple in a single keep / tower is pretty retarded. Mythic's infrastructure is designed from the ground up to support threaded client/server requests in real time at near to the same pace as an FPS. It's always going to be slower (and by that I'm refreeing to miliseconds) than an 8/16/32 player FPS map, as you are often dealing with silo'd instances of RVR (NF, Lab, Agramon etc.. running in their own virtual "bubble" with x20 the amounts of players.

If Mythic's infrastructure is so poorly optimised and creaking at the seams, how is it that 2 people can have such diametrically opposed experiences, depending on where they are. I'm 5000 miles away on an average internet connection, playing on 2 year old PC, primetime in a zerg of 200+ people and I get pretty much no lag at all, compared to someone who might be 10 miles down the road from Fairfax, who's unable to play because their game grinds to a halt in large fights.

Edit Oh and Sunsand. The game is 9 years old. Don't kid yourself that thousands of poeple quite because they got unhappy with the game. Plenty have, but over the last 9 years its NOT because of the lag. They've gone and started a family, left for collage, got married and quit, got bored, couldn't afford to play, moved to WAR etc.. or just plain rage quit. If you leave the game cause Mythic runied your experience, i'm sorry but your gonna have a life filled with dissapointments.

So that explains why other games such as eve, with much higher numbers, run flawlessly. Hmmm DAOC and War at the bottom of the pile with this problem.

I'm sure that not everyone that logs into the game frequents the VN boards or even bothers to post on them at all.

About half of my guild wont even touch this site lol, not EVERYONE reads/posts here just because they play this game. Stop thinking the world revolves around you (as in "if I do it, EVERYONE else does too"

Different engines, network stack, datacentres, routing... basically, a different game entirely. Together, Mythic's MMO "offering" is giving you a standard of gameplay which hasn't changed for the most part in 9 years. 3000 people primetime on 30 servers, or 3000 people on 1 cluster, either way, its the same.

What's your point? Still no argument thats holding water here. I'll make it simple for you. If the problem was at Mythic, EVERYONE would have the problem, but they don't.

Yep, so it's our fault that mythic's engines, network stack, datacenters, routing etc aren't up to par? Why is it that the lag complaints are much higher with Mythic's games than any other games? LOLz

Umm, nine years ago, we didn't have 3000 people (primetime) on 30 servers. More like 25,000 people on the nineteen servers that DAoC actually ran.

Tonight, the hib population I was seeing with /who was comparable to the hib population on Nimue (the smallest regular server - okay, it was RP) nine years ago.

This is the correct answer. Most people do not bother with these boards.

I am in a relatively large alliance and everyone I have talked to has also experienced said lag.

Just thought I would add most people in my alliance to this list of sad pandas.

Who in Mythic is blaming the customer? Like any tech company, they will want you to;

1. Reboot your PC
2. Reboot your Router
3. Cancel all downloads / close all other non essential software & services
4. Update your GPU drivers
5. Do a tracrert to their servers and send the results
6. Run dxdiag and send the results
7. See if the problem exists on Pendragon
etc...

BTW, the place for this therad is here http://vnboards.ign.com/tech_tavern/b20934/p1 not here. Judging by smell of the whine from this thread, I would have thought some bright spark would started a thread abotu the lag there, but there are none )

Intel Core i7 920

6MB DDR3 RAM

Nvidia gtx 260 core 216

All on a 20/20 fiberoptic connection

I do get server lag at times. It seems US prime time is the time I get the server lag. I can be PvE'n and get some severe server lag. Seems my inputs on my end are not registering for a quite some time.

Now during the AM hours I tend to run smooth and easy, and even US prime time in non zerg areas I dont get this lag.
