Really, I was crazy about dyes. I remember spending almost all of my money on dyes.

LOL. I remember being like level 21 on my armsman in gray platemail because armor was so expensive and this theurgist in my guild was constantly cycling through the expensive dyes because he never needed to spend any money. That pissed me off so badly at the time. Why couldn't you have added bottomless dyepots 10 years ago, Mythic???

1. which realm did you start in?

Albion, both in European beta and retail.

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

Great, it easily allowed you as a player to immerse yourself in the game, recognising famous location names, landmarks.

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

Tried Hibernia, but didn't get far with it. The amount of effort required to level another character in a new realm to 50 was discouraging at the time.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

Friends playing the game, one played Albion - so the rest of us followed.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

In beta I had a tri-spec Sorceress, I was annoyed that I couldn't blast things to death with fancy fire spells like some Wizard I saw. Once retail came along I eventually found a class I liked and found sites with spec calculators.

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

Trying to reclaim the keeps from Midgard in Snowdonia. Many Albion low level characters doing our best to retake them, but just a few high level Midgard defenders found it easy to run towards the keep and wipe most of us out! At that point we focused on levelling up as fast as possible to improve our chances in RvR.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

Can't remember - most of my characters were support classes in the early days.

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

Yep all 3 and have high rr's on all 3 realms love them all for different reasons

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

Friends attracted me to the game and the same friends and new ones that i made kept me in game. We moved to all 3 realms and servers as a guild

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

Actually NO! I rolled a wizard and went full fire which I was told at the time was gimp after 47. How i laughed when the lvl 50 bolt came into the game!

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

Was awesome we all went out as a guild all 40 of us and zerged in emain like proper albs however we were lvl 30ish and most of the mids where 50's with chain stunning healers. We went back to pve pretty quickly lol

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?
I was lucky I saw a hunter make a pet and forget to stealth i double bolted him and he died. He con'd green but I was the man with a solo kill in emain lol

When you first started Dark Age of Camelot:

1. which realm did you start in?

Albion

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

I thought it was the coolest concept ever. Not only am I knight. Its all pulled from RL mythology and the fact you could actually siege keeps and such was amazing. Add that on to being able to play and learn more about people from all over the world and their own countries and such was mind blowing

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

Switched to Midgard for about a month a little after ToA. I didn't move permenately till Ector was released and that was to Hib

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

Fun classes, resonated deeply with my heritage, looked cool, very unique, loved the colors and was just all around sexy. I always found albion too drab, so I moved to greener pastures

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

Spec? No. I did put 15 points into str though; this was when Mythic still was telling everyone str was what friars needed, not dex.

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

Amazing. Went out to defend our relic against midgard. I was only level 40 and found that I could actually compete!! Only downside was the HUGE FPS drop.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

Eh, it was alright. Never been into soloing unless iit was the only other option available for PvPing. I lost, staff friar pre-self-buffs was not fun lol

Mid more or less, I think I first made a Wizard to about level 6, but then went to Mid and leveled a Thane to about 29.

Kind of tried a little bit on all 3 realms, eventually rerolled Hib and made a Mentalist, sounded like a cool character based on what it said in game

The only reason I stayed is because once I got to level 15 or so, I headed over to Spraggon Den, although I was too low. In there, I found a bunch of very nice and helpful people from a guild called Maith Brugh, they were focus pulling on an Enchanter and my Mentalist turned out to quite useful for them. So the only reason I stayed Hib really was because of that guild, and I managed to get to a decent level quite a bit faster than on the Thane. Stayed in that guild for a long time, as far as I know they all left the game and I was still playing, though I met up with some of them in Molvik when they played just casually a few years later

of course, but I fixed it at 20, and my Mentalist was Mana all the way. Interestingly I started another Mentalist to play in the BG's, but then I eventually decided to level it up and at 40 I respecced to light. Somehow I got it to 50 and started to RvR on it since Light mentalists were better than Mana, especially back in the day with all the Mana Enchanters out there. By the time that respec stones were cheap, the light Mentalist had more RPs and more artifacts, so I no longer play the first Mentalist that I started with.

I was level 22 on my Thane when I went to Thid, after getting a full set of 98-99% red con armor from a friend (who was a pretty good AC'er back in the day) with no SC points put into it, I was still pretty powerful like that. Took out an oj con Saracen infiltrator without any problems . That was quite fun.

When you first started Dark Age of Camelot:

1. which realm did you start in?

I tried out the game on my friend's account. He was playing alb so i created a ranger on Merlin/Hib. It was Halloween 2004 and my friend had set up this whole haunted house thing and I just sat at his computer all night
Eventually I got my own account and rolled a minstrel on Lance (Muddywaters) with with my friend (Cronoset-reav) and another friend (Vorgon-arms) that had joined us.

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

The scenery was awe-inspiring. I feel nostalgic just thinking about all the old places we used to hang out and level. Back then your race still determined where you would start out and as a saracen I started in Campacorentin Forest which was this amazing forest that seemed always dark because the trees were so tall. Once I got a couple levels and enough silver to buy a ticket to Camelot I left to meet up with my buddies. PKB boulderings were almost always camped but they were the most accessible mobs, then a little higher level was Mithra and I would try to collect the Mithra armor set hoping that I could get a special bonus for wearing all the armor together. Spent a long time Salisbury Plains moving through that huge area as I leveled up, killing mercs and druids and horses. I probably spent the more time in Salis than any other area in the game. Eventually, I got high enough level to start killing mobs in Cornwall and Catacombs of Cardova, where I remember grouping with this ice wizard, Gordop. He and one of my buddies and me would make fun of our other friend (Armsman) because he kept pulling too many mobs and we would just stand there and let him die because we didn't want to lose our xp. With the ice wizard we decided we could take on a little bit more and headed to Dartmoor to kill ponies. At first we were doing great but Dartmoor Ponies argo super far after they become agressive to you and eventually we were overcome by a swarm of ponies, this did help me learn what mezz was for though. Like someone said earlier, you really got to know the people you were leveling with because it was a huge timesink. I can still remember names of a few people I befriended while leveling, but for the most part none of them continued to 50.

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

I got so into alb I never felt like switching. I played Mordred for a little while off and on and even then I mostly played alb classes. It wasn't until just a month ago, when I resubbed, that I've rerolled to hib with a RL friend/roommate (played WoW) that I convinced to come play DAOC with me.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

Initially, friends, I also really dug the Camelot lore and I didn't want to spend all that time rerolling on a different server away from my buddies. The classes in alb seemed like they all could solo to some degree. I do have to say with my short time in hib I thought that the scenery was the coolest though, the mountains and rolling hills and nature stuff everywhere.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

Kinda, I rolled a saracen minstrel but I trained slash. I don't really remember how I trained instruments but through leveling I think I was able to work it out.

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

First pvp was in thidranki. My friend had level'd ahead of me and was in thid killing peope. I was rushing to catch up and when I finally made it to 20 and got into the BG we were trying to take the center keep. I was just running around like "what do i do?" I didn't really understand what mezz was and my minstrel has always been so squishy, I'm pretty sure we took the keep while I was taking a dirt nap.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

I think I was fighting a thane, I got really anxious and kept miss clicking and died really quick and when it was over I wasn't really sure what had happened, it was a lot like sex for the first time...

I started just before NF was implemented but sadly I never checked out OF before it was gone, I felt I needed to level up more before I ventured there, then it was gone. It wasn't until much later that I understood what I had missed.

I tried rerolling a lowbie alb not long ago, because I miss that old place, such a beautiful and magical land, and very nostalgic. Unfortunately, they changed something, and there are no more lowbie mobs there, as they moved everything to Cotswold. I was very disappointed with that, I rolled a character, left the tutorial to cotswold, and ran all the way back to campencorentin station just to find out its not what it used to be.

1. which realm did you start in?

Midgard - my first language is basically the precursor of Old English with some influence from Dutch, so anything Viking is very personally appealing (Old English is way more like Old Norse than you might think).

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

I enjoyed the supposedly Viking style buildings. DAoC was my first online game, so I had nothing to compare it to, but did enjoy the historical aspect of it.

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

My first venture into another realm was Hibernia, where I played a Nightshade when they were an absolutely horrible class (this was before Mythic gave them any kind of spell). Since playing a Nightshade sucked so much, I made a Bard to help with leveling on my boyfriend's account.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

I stayed in Albion for the majority of my time playing DAoC. I went there simply because an old friend from my first guild in Midgard invited us to try the real. His Armsman was level 45 at the time (an omg wtf high level!) and he gave us some starter gold and helped us to about level 8 (which took a good 6 hours in those times) to teach us the basics of Albion leveling areas.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

YES! My first char was a Berserker who only reached level 8. Before level 8, I decided to change from axe to sword spec as my mainh and spec.

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

I was playing my second char ever, which was a Skald, and some people asked me to join them to defend keeps. I was only about level 16 at the time (this was in like December of 2001 - well before crowd control immunity timers were put in the game) and our defense group ran into a lot of other realm members. My computer of the time could not handle a lot of players on the screen, so it was like watching a slide show. It almost felt like running among a bunch of trees at slow motion until we died.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

My first 1v1 was certainly on my Nightshade in the only battleground that existed at the time - I think it was called Caledonia and it was for level 30-35 characters. I don't remember the exact fight, but recall that the first 1v1 fights caused my heart to beat =] This was in the days that one could one shot from stealth (and doing it to Albion casters while using a staff was oh-so-easy!), but even those made my heart beat like crazy because I never knew if the player would die in one hit - I usually attacked sitting casters who were in the middle of a large group!
