1. which realm did you start in?

Midgard/Galahad. Played a Warrior named Valmar and eventually a Hunter named Arma. My RL brother moved to Mid/Nimue because it was new, so I eventually sold my Galahad Mids and rolled up my Shadowblade.

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

I just remember being amazed at the size and diversity of the game. Really, I was crazy about dyes. I remember spending almost all of my money on dyes. And the first time I soloed an orange con mob, I remember bragging about it endlessly in guild chat, I was level 10 or so.

3. did you ever switch to another realm? for good or temporary for trial?

I did when my SB was probably rr7 or so? My best friend in game decided to play Alb on the same server since our guild was kind of on a break for school and whatnot. So I cancelled and rolled up my Inf. Think I got him to rr4 before I went back to the SB. Our whole guild eventually moved to Hibernia/Percival, where I got some pretty high rr dudes.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

Really Mid attracted me because I loved the landscape, the mythology, the races, and classes. The other two realms were nice too, but Mid was just awesome. Even now, I love going around old Midgard.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

Not really, but I did screw up starting stats.

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

Interesting. I remember running out to Bled in my low 30s on my Warrior. Now, I started playing at launch, so there really weren't any 50s yet. I remember Midgard chain stunning and being dotted to death by Mentalists and Cabalists. There were no RAs either. I remember being able to see stealthers when you were dead. All of that is sort of bunched up into my first rvr days.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

I don't remember my first 1v1, I've just had too many I'm assuming I didn't win it because I started venturing out into the frontiers at a very low level.

It's nice when people are pleasant and put a modicum of effort into the writing. I'm reading every one.

My first character on Midgard was a Berserker. Since I logged in early on day 1 I got the name Einar (and eventually gave him Bloodaxe as a lastname, ie a real person from history). I got him to like level 12 or so before I deleted him - because it was obvious that Berserkers were never gonna be a good class, sigh

My second character was a troll warrior named Grimstane (now Grimstainn). I decided he was too boring to play at around level 17 or so, and rolled first a kobold hunter - and he didn't get far for ages because it was so hard to level them.

Then a friend in my guild told me about Spiritmasters, and I tried one out. I loved the class and Sneev became my main all the way to 50. My friend deleted his because he hated it shortly thereafter

When Sneev got his first realm points (level 42 or so I think, remember no BGs), I checked the herald and noticed that he was #23 on the top 25 SMs for Mid/Percival. There were no names in slots 24 and 25 In other words no one was playing them to speak of

1. Hib when I got my own account.
2. It was kind of confusing with all the zones and lack of direction.
3. Repeatedly, first for Alb on Percival in 2004 or 2005.
4. It depended on the realm my guild was playing that day.
5. Yes, it was a Nightshade, while leveling.
6. It was an alliance RvR /CG (there were no /BGs), and I mostly leeched as I was too low level to help much.
7. Lost (I pretty much didn't know what I was doing), it was in the OF Caledonia on my chanter, which probably wasn't even cap level for the zone.

DakRT: And 4 Scouts makes a [stealth] zerg huh?
Zyzyg: What anytime snare are you talking about?...Your anytime style should be Polar Rift. Clearly you don't play a Shadowblade.
Steot: Its fact, I just dont have proof.

1. which realm did you start in?

Started in Hibernia on excaliber server.

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

DaoC was my first mmorpg. The feeling of running through a huge (then it was huge because I had no idea of the size of the zones etc.) virtual medieval world and especially the forests blew my away. And actually meeting other people in the gameworld.

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

Nope started in Hib and always stayed there.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

I loved the lore of Hibernia and basicly thought everyone is going to pick Albion for obvious reasons and Midgard lore didn't grasp me as much. Never thought about what character to play to base my choice on. Sttil love hibernian scenery and atmosphere.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

Bigtime like almost everybody lol. My very first character was a Celt Hero. ofcourse at level 19 specced nicely evenly so I would be a jack of all trades what a painful way to level . Then deleted him to make a druid. (because I loved the buffing animations ) and read some more aboutt speccing and stuff

6. what was your first pvp experience like?

A guy we had leveled with (in that time you grouped for a few hours and got to know people by name and reputation. Now everone has a gazilion toons and I never rememember what alts are called for one person) took us with his higher level guild mates to emain. they were having a stand of at Albion Mile gate and there were literaly hundreds of people!! I was utterly freaked at the mayhem of the battle and the feeling of trying to defend our frontier from invaders. So sad that feeling went away the more you learned about game mechanics. Ignorance truly was bliss at that time.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

My first 1v1 was on my thid nightshade. Was looking around in thidranki and saw a castertype alb standing at the bridge. I backstabbed her and was pumping with adrenaline when another alb ran up and attacked me as well. I died and the caster died seconds later of my poison. I was hooked from that moment. My first real 1v1 was with an alb friar also in thidranki. I couldn't understand why a caster with a staff was killing me met him a few times after and got my ass handed every single time lol

bro, i dunno how it is now, but back in the day, friars were tough. ive seen alot of ppl fall to friars because they expected less from them in a fight. they used to hit HARD.

i made the same mistake on my shade at first too, but as i leveled i kept thinking i could beat them if i got better.
seems like every time i found one tho, he happened to be a bit better.
i came so close so many times.

good stuff

How can you screw up a Shammie spec
6. what was your first pvp experience like?
Ran out with my RL friend on a healer when I was lvl 25 and came across a bard. Zzzzz for most of the fight while the healer killed him
7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?
It was the first night Thid opened and I saw a cleric and ran down to fight. Got my ass handed to me. 10 years later I still do not have a solo kill on my shammie (4L3)
