Hey! What's wrong with Elf Blademasters? I have a RR4 one and I lubs him.

Hell I have a RR5 Avalonian Merc. Same difference. I love being an avalonian. In today's game choosing something odd like elf or avalonian doesn't hurt as much as it did in the old days.

1. which realm did you start in?

Hibernia, in beta. I wanted to try a thane in midgard, but it was my buddy's beta account and he had all 4 mid slots filled up. I made a celt champ, and didn't know about training skill or anything. I made it to level 7 before I was like, dude I can't kill anything. He says, how did you train? I was like wtf are you talking about?

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?

I thought it looked SO much better then EQ. I was hooked from the get go.

3. did you ever switch to another ream? for good or temporary for trial?

I've played all three realms. When release came out, I went to mid on Kay and made that Thane I really wanted. I leveled him to 44, mostly solo because nobody wanted mezz breaking thanes in groups. Then there was some guild vs guild drama, where the guild Fury blacklisted my guild Gaelbane for various crimes against the realm (basically our best players not joining Fury), and then everyone from Gaelbane went to Mordred. Without friends, and being burned out from solo grinding on my thane (who's spec was very broken...I thought splitting points between parry and shield for layered defenses was a good idea) I changed to Albion making a smite cleric (I love lightning, what can I say?). I've played the other realms a little (even getting a zerker to rr6 on classic) but Alb is really home.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?

I loved my cleric. When I got tired of him I loved my minstrel. When I got tired of her, I loved my sorc. I still love my sorc, but a good portion of that is I love my guildies.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?

The first one and many others after that.


6. what was your first pvp experience like?

It was when I was in Mid/Kay, back when there were holes in the zone wall. An alb infiltrator named Squirmy slipped through the hole and was at Ft Atla. I was level 9, he was...purple. I think level 18ish at the time. I attacked him and died, but the other lowbies there ganged up on him and killed him. How was it? Memorable enough that 10 years later I remember his name.


7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?

The first one was me vs squirmy. I got...annihilated. the others didnt jump in until I was dead, but it was exhilarating. After that, eh I dunno. I won a lot of 1v1's on my minstrel and my cleric. My thidranki NS is nearly a lone enforcer...but none of them were probably as memorable as that fight at Ft Atla a few weeks into the game.

1. Started in Midgard, played there a few years.

2. This wasn't my first MMO, so probably didn't notice trivial things.

3. Switched to Hibernia after a few years, stayed.

4. Switched to Hibernia because I got sick of fighting Animists and Banshees (took Mythic too long to fix them).

5. Not my spec, but screwed up my starting race. Norse Thane, what a retard, should have been a troll.

6. I got WTFPWN by a Minstrel. I felt so sad because I thought a Minstrel was going to be easy.

btw jhonto, i remember EXACTLY what it was like, and how hard it was and how long it took to get 50.
ive got a 50 sorc, 50 necro, and a 50 heretic.
and my first high player was a 44 ns. oldschool grinding too bro. its was all business, all day.

so yea, i know..lol faster xp might be a decent change of pace in a week or so when i start playing again.
i just resubbed and i havnt played since a few months after catacombs came out.

Was a Thane on Mordred, and i ran around everywhere so dont know if that really counts as 1 realm... but if it does than technically that would be mid.

2. what were your thoughts on the trivial things in you surroundings at the time?
i grew up playing MMOs, started when i was like 7ish? This was my 2nd MMO, first being UO. so just it being real 3D was trivial, the fact that melee had something to do was amazing, in UO, before recent changes, melee would just run back and fourth, there were procs but no 'styles' like daoc has. So wanting to stun NOW vs hoping your proc a stun was astonishing to me.

Eventually, my brother forced me to play alb MLF with him. since he paid for my account i didnt mind. He had his heart set on a necromancer because he loved them in diablo 2. i rolled an armsman because i wanted a spear. now this was back when armsmen were pretty bland and bad.

4. what attracted you to the realm that you stayed in?
one day i was hating my arms when i grouped with a reaver, and was like, "hey you only have to regen your endo after pulls!" so i deleted my arms for the name and rerolled reaver. about that time i wanted to go back to mord full time, but i had made some buds (who were mad that i rerolled since i was the tank for their grp~ and they had to basicly PL me ) so i stayed with it. that reaver was my first 50 first rr5+ first ml10 first cl10 ect. was my main for a long time untill i joined an 8man guild and they put me on light tank.

5. did you screw the spec up on your first toon?
Thane was full storm leftover shield for slam than hammer for endo usage. but i dindt get him very high level untill much later so i knew what i was doing by then. my brother explained what auto training was, so my reaver was full soul and shield for much of his life~ was pretty fun actually, being a block bot for my grp basically~ so in pve i did nothing at all!
6. what was your first pvp experience like?

first pvp was in breamar? the one after thid. we had leveled up purely in BGs, so i had no idea where mob camps are, and to this day, if it wasnt for BGs, i still wouldnt know where to xp grind in mainland or SI. so it was odd that my first pvp was in bramar. regardless, it was me and 2 japanese players, gyello and gazax, i dont know if they knew each other but i think they talked to me due to my reavers name being an anime characters name, so they assumed i was japanese or at least knew some. sadly i dont but they kept grouping with me anyways. it was a paladin a cleric and my reaver, vs bonedancer shaman savage runemaster. all 3 enemy casters sat in my aura so they couldnt cast, and the paladin and i beat on the savage as he chased our cleric around~ we won but i died but i got rezzed and we took the keep.

7. How did it feel when you got in your 1st 1vs1? . did you win?
first 1v1 was awesome, it was in leirvik, and agasint a valewalker. i was running towards the docks and i got side stunned. i was in a good temp, my brother had worked SCing and most of the trades so i always had my resists and stats caped at the very least. anyways, i got side stunned and laughed because it barely hurt..... then he got BB off and i wanted to cry~ almost killed me but me and my awesome 42 shield 41 SR 10? flex (still autotraining!) spec was enough to just slightly kill bit by bit with damage aura and lifetaps~ was embarrassing i thought reavers had no dps but then i hit 50 with max duration in my temp when slam could be 11 secs long and old levi~ wowowowowwo who needs temps when you can spike that much?

i never saw OF, when i started playing OF was still out but about 2 months later we got the NF patch.
