Afrits, How-to-?
I've yet to figure out how to do Afrits with a Ment/Bot. I managed to kill one, but have died about 10 times trying to do it again. I have a Light Ment, RR3, 46L/28M spec, with a decent suit, power pool, 10 casting, damage, range, etc etc.
I charm a 53 salamander, buff it up and try to position the bot, out of group so it can throw heals on the Ment or Pet as needed. Most of the time the yellow weps just beat the Ment down or the Afrit itself comes and kills the Ment.
Should I group the bot? Or stick the bot to the Ment to stay in heal range? I am doing it with 2 laptops, so I don't have to alt-tab, but I just can't figure it out.
Same thing with a Ranger, I tried a couple times, and I don't see how you can kill an Afrit if you have to plunk a few arrows and run away. I also haven't figured out how to kill an elemental and at least 1 weakened afrit with the Ranger.
I fail at PVE.

I've never ungrouped the bot before, I don't know what effect that would have. Like I said before, it's very rare that the animated artifacts attack both your mentalist and your bot at the same time (when they are grouped), and since a Mentalist has backup heals, this should make it pretty hard to die. So this is why after you stun nuke, you start to use aeDD on the Afrit, so that it kills the chests right away and you don't get artifacts. But you will most likely get interrupted in one way or another, and then you'll be covered in the animated artifacts, when this happens I just switch to the Druid and spam heals. They take down the Mentalist pretty fast when there are 4-5 of them, so you gotta constantly throw heals on the Ment. Try to cast DoT's with either quickcast, or right through the interrupts to get the Afrit down fast, while continuing to heal on the Druid. You may or may not have another chance at stun nuking, depends if you get that 3 second where there are no artifacts in the battle.
I position the Druid at least 1000 units away from the Mentalist, and I don't do a whole lot of moving during the fight. This is just so that if the Afrit is attacking the Ment, and randomly sends an animated artifact to the Druid, I'll at least have some warning about it. And also so that the Druid doesn't get hit by the explosion of the Rune Bound chest. Keep in mind, the Artifacts don't have any hate list, and don't act like normal mobs, once they attack the Mentalist they will never switch to the Druid no matter how much you heal, same thing goes for the Afrit.
It helps to be CL10. The focal Mythirian helps a lot no the Mentalist, I also have a Greater Mythirian of Power on both the Ment and the Druid, I never even have to use FoP on the Druid. However, I have 3 items with power charges on the Mentalist, and I usually end up using about 1 per fight.

How would i do this with sm+bot (34dark/41summ), also, is healer or shaman prefered? Im thinking celerity is cool with an ml9-(possibly jugg)-sally, how fast does it wreck the afrit, and do i bother with the weapons? And how much kiting/running around is it to be done with a caster that does not aoe-nuke (as ive seen lots people here say its easiest done, to break chests..)

I've been doing them the last few days with that spec and Wild Minion 6. For the regular Afrits, just put your pet on him, nuke until you get weapon aggro, and heal as appropriate with your Shaman; any time you don't have aggro, nuke some more. Your ML9 will chew threw him in about 90 seconds, 2 minutes tops.
For the greater Afrits, throw up ML9 and damage shield, let the pet chew up the Bound Atlanteans and watch for the Motivator to spawn, when it does put the pet on it and then back on the Atlanteans. The phase with the Atlanteans is kind of heal intensive, but use the smallest ones you can until they're dead. Once they're dead reposition to the maximum distance you can, put the damage shield back up, and sleep through the rest of the fight. Make sure you clear the DoT every time it is applied to the pet, it makes the Master Afrit hit harder and does massive damage. Stay at maximum distance, if you're too close when he shifts to lion form he'll summon a lion and sick it on you.

That's pretty much the PvE SM spec. I prefer shammy as it gives you spec buffs and can throw a dot on the afrit which while kinda gimp with no cave spec if you have some WP on shammy it can do ok dmg. I haven't tried healer but one advantage healer would have apart from celerity would be the stunning factor, on alb I stun the weapons on bot and they vanish before stun wears off. Personally I don't kite run around unless its to get closer to the afrit, just stand there heal with bot as needed if using shammy try to get a crit dot on mob, if healer just stun the weapons. Having extra toon makes it even easier with more options but SM+bot is fine.

Oh, do the weapons despawn after a certain time, even if not killed? Im guessing i wont be spending time killing them, so i thought id be FILLED with weapons once the afrit dies. If i just chuck the pet on the afrit and then stay on the healer stunning shit away like mad, i think i'll be fine
I find it (in theory) a good thing to use healer, since you get specbuffs for your pet w/ summ-spec anyhow. But then again, healer/sm will be without specs. So idk yet! Im gonna have both at the ready anyway :-)

Also, if all you want to do is hunt down elementals and regular Afrits, not the Greater Afrits, charm a Gorgon Maiden instead of a Salamander; they don't tank hits as well but they do a buttload more damage when ML9 is active.
