I agree that realm pride is a huge issue and hopefully they'll provide a positive enforcement policy for staying with your realm.

The five minute timer is laughable, but I propose this:

A 24 hour timer that prevents you from switching realms (including IP address, so your bot is stuck with that realm as well). In addition, small benefits will remain with your character the longer you remain with your realm (like titles "Defender of the Realm" for x months of unwavered realm pride). In addition some moderate benefit to staying in your realm for a long time (Gear alteration or using a different mount- ie. griffin)

/charcopy Mordred: Allow people who have those alts they worked hard on to be easily accessible in Mordred. Mordred is a pretty much dead server and this can allow people to play the alts they enjoyed but stay true to their realm pride in ywain. Reduce the space to a general realm where all players start off would be nice (but probably unlikely), at the very least, convert NF into OF. I understand not wanting to go with it on the blue servers, but at the very least test it out in Mordred.

/freexfer Ywain: Allow people from Mordred to transfer their toons to Ywain, stripped of all gear and given ML1-ML5 coins. Glam players have been campaigning for a long time to join Ywain, it's about time Mordred join up as well.

Why? Anything a Mordred char has will either be extremely outdated (The server all but died in 2005). Anyone who farmed gear before 2005 will have outdated gear and anyone who templated since then will have very limited gear. Almost no one has the ML9-10 items as you have to solo almost everything.

Preventing people from playing the character the want to play make people really angry. Yeah, I'd like to see it, but changing the game at this late stage would piss people off for no good reason. Maybe if it was a new server and a fresh start it would be different.

To encourage players to stick with one realm I would suggest offering XP, RP, BP, and coin bonuses that increase the longer you stay in one realm. I will say you have a good idea with the special items, players that have been especially loyal to one realm deserve distinctive armor and mounts. The envy factor alone would probably deter realm-jumpers.

Special mounts? Hey, what happened to that? Goats and Boars? Was that a rumor?

Realm pride on ywian is impossible,too many people have set up 50's on each realm,it would make it worst,not better.

Its absolutely impossable,it will only upset the majority.

A new server is the only way to bring back realm pride!!!!

I would have loved to have seen an Origins server, with the ability to switch realms disabled.

But I very much doubt EA is willing to put up any resources for this game at this point.

The biggest thing that detracts people from this game now is the UI. The UI is just so bad compared to what newer games have. It was great back in the day, but new players hate it.

The default UI is pretty bad but there are some pretty good custom ones imo. I don't like most newer MMO's UI.

I agree the default UI is poor, the chat boxes are huge when I make a new char. That's pretty poor.


I don't think at this stage there is much they can do to fix daoc, while people are right all the other previous MMOs didn't 'kill' daoc, it's pretty much done this itself. I'd be surprised to see if any other MMO has seen the population drop at the same rate daoc has (excluding the release spikes all games see).


All I would like to see is something to pick up Mord. Perhaps put Old frontiers on, and a once per account /freeXfer TO Mord. Allow each account to transfer 1 toon, with gear/RR to Mord, this would give people something to do when Ywain is zergy, and allow most people to have an alt over there.


Besides, due to the clustering that's gone on over the years, many people have duplicate toons anyway

Enable pvp in certain zones (SI zones for example), no one really uses them outside of the main dungeons anyway.

a realm timer wouldnt solve the realm pride issue...

realm pride was dieing before you could play difrent realms on the same server...

its player attitudes not the option to play the other realms that killed realm pride.

as the playerbase learned they could get RRs/RAs faster if they made optimized small groups, realm pride started to die...

the playerbase was no longer out to help the realm, or have fun defending the realm, taking keeps... it became how fast can *I* get RPs... not how is this helping my realm...

being stuck in only 1 realm doesnt solve selfishness, or rudeness ... so it would not solve the issue of realm pride.

rewarding group activities, promoting community building, forcing the playerbase to work together to earn rewards... these are things that help realm pride.

but camelot has gone completely oposite, most things are done solo now in the game, that destroys the community and damages realm pride.

Yes realm pride is very very very important,

You CANNOT bring it back on ywain,

Its far far far too late to force people to play one realm,when they put there time,heart,money and soul into chars in all 3 realms.

A new server is the the only way to implement realm pride,IMO
