Good for you. That still doesn't lend creditability to his estimates.

It does not have to. It does not matter if you think it is credible or not. It is what it is. The numbers are close enough that the reality is self-evident. Simple denial does not lend credibility to your position. Lets see some contradictory reasoning other than you just do not want to think it could be so.

If the numbers added up Mythic would have done it already.

This is a nonsense argument.

First, it is not Mythic that would make the decision, it would be EA. Mythic does not have the authority to spend funds on DAoC 2.

Second, it has already been shown (on many, many threads) that Mythic is often stupid, self-destructive, arrogant, selfish, psychotic, etc. . . . Using Mythic’s evaluation as a basis for your statement/conclusion completely and utterly lacks any logic.

Also, EA has been shown to lack insight when it comes to evaluating Mythic, evaluating how Mythic operates and in evaluating DAoC’s potential. If EA had some real aptitude they would never have been gullible enough to believe MJ’s pabulum.

That EA swallowed the fantasy spewed from MJ shows that EA never understood what was happening with DAoC and EA never understood DAoC’s potential.

Again, while I have not gone to EA and done an analysis of their management team, a great deal can be learned from watching their methodology (or lack of) when they purchased Mythic, funded WH and left MJ running WH development.

With EA seeming to lack real insight into DAoC and EA simply using an outsiders view point, it should be obvious that from any outsiders view point DAoC looks like a failed/failing game that has run its course and should be milked till it is dead.

All this should be self-evident.

Again, your comment, “If the numbers added up Mythic would have done it already.” is a good sound bite but for any that know the reality of DAoCs history, your statement lacks logic.

If the numbers added up, we wouldn't have a huge deficit. Stupidity and cowardice are rampant in this country.

Or

The numbers do add up. The numbers have always added up. We do have a huge deficit.

Stupidity and cowardice are rampant in the world.

I know what would get you back into the game. The ability to make Transvestites. I read the thread about you in the Warhammer page. Really Columba that is what you are into?

Fix the lag and bugs. I got tired of playing a game that fails to function as intended more often than not.

They should've just done Origins back in '08 when they had the chance; people have moved on now.

I voted "other" so I will explain even though I'm just dropping by these forums. This game needs a complete reboot for me to ever play it now. The concept and lore is all fantastic but the game is just outdated.

I can only hope that Sony's Planetside 2 is a massive success and that as a result EA look for a 3 realm game of their own, find DAOC and commision a sequel.

The numbers, in your opinion, are close enough, this is my objection. You have no idea whether that is true or not. You have posted some vague points as to why you believe the numbers might fit but this, again, does not lend credability to anything you've posted. Post something tangible.

Lets see, for example, some evidence that you really do know what the cost of wages/salaries might be or how many people a new MMO might require.

WH cost of development along with a list of departments, department heads, coders, developers, etc. (a complete list of those who worked on WH) is available on line.

Sure is. Mark Jacobs mentioned in his blog that the development cost for WH was just south of $100 million. Again, I fail to see how this substantiates anything you are peddling.

Yes, agreed.

Oh please. EA Mythic/Bioware is a business responsible to shareholders. Do you really think that intentional vindictiveness is a sound business plan? I see the above sentiment on so many forums:

"Mythic is stupid"
"Mythic loves albs"
"Mythic loves hib casters"
"Blizzard hates paladins"

And as for psychotic, you're just being melodramatic! (But I'm sure you realised that when you posted it).

You are not privy to the reasons behind the decisions EA makes with regard to Mythic so the above is pure speculation.

Voted "Other".

I played many years ago and i would have restart from the scratch. Leveling and especially gearing to be competive seems to me too much of a damn timesink to come back.

And no, i wont ebay. I want to learn my class which is given when i level up.

Anyone who thinks todays DAOC is a timesink should likely stick with first person shooters.
