I'm an ex DAoC who retired around 2008 because the RvR zones were way to big to support the available supply of PvP players. I'd still be playing if the population was healthy :-(

Anyway, I tried numerous games since then: World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Age of Conan, Darkfall Online (worst of the bunch), and Star Wars the Old Republic. I'm sticking with SWTOR until my free month expires. The game is average at best, but the endgame content looks way to similar to WoW. All these games failed to offer solid endgame PvP content like DAoC.

Like most of you, I'm also looking forward to Guild Wars 2, but there is another game I haven't seen many people discussing YET.... that game is Dominus.

The game has ex-DAoC staff, warhammer staff, and I forget who else. It looks like a sci-fi version of DAoC. The release date is supposed to be late 2012. I just wish there was another MMORPG to hold me over until it's released. I guess my only hope is to start posting there until I get a beta invite lol :-)

if DAoC players wanted pvp heavy game, and scifi... they'd just go play EvE Online....

but DAoC player do not want scifi, they want fantasy... or else they'd be playing a scifi game, like Anarchy Online. wich has faction based pvp just like RVR, as well as pve content and raid content.. and its even partialy free to play...

but daoc players dont want scifi.

That's a dumb thing to say. Neither I nor anyone else I played DAoC with cared AT ALL about the setting of the game. Sure the whole king arthur/thor/whatever the hell Irish people believe thing was cool, but we all played DAoC for the gameplay and literally nothing else. If another game comes out that does it better, then that's that. I play games for fun and competition; whether I have to kill faeries with my spells or aliens with my science in between PvP means literally nothing to me.

reads well on paper but from the few vids they have shown, it does not look very fun, slow and clunky but its still alpha? so cant get to caught up on that.

graphics aren't that big of a deal for me in mmos, i mean i played UO for a long ass time....

but as boxy said, game play is what im looking for, immersion is something i look for in a single player game which is story driven, the 'idea' of a sandbox mmo is that it is community driven.

now with the courts favoring bethseda over interplay over the fallout MMO, i hope matt frior can work on that as well. that's a mmo i would love to play

As far as graphics go, I will NEVER support a game (or any venture in general) that prioritizes aesthetics over practicality. Gameplay is hard enough to get right, and if all you're worried about is making your game pretty then the gameplay is going to suffer.

nor will i,

i believe it was dark and light? where one of the main dev was quoted as saying something along the lines of, "who cares if the game is broken? as long as it looks good, it will be a glorified chat room"

Can't be DnL. That game is far too butt ugly for a dev to ever say that.

As an alpha tester, I can't speak about the content of the game due to the NDA.

I can say that the alpha server is a ghost-town, and after getting alpha access, a large majority of the alpha testers have disappeared from the forums all together.

Draw your own conclusions...

I'll still be monitoring updates now and then.

im not sure which mmo it was than

i just remember that it sold a lot of preorders that were literally someone that burnt the game onto a blank CD and with a sharpie wrote "the name of the mmo" on it and shipped them out.

then the game didn't go live and all the people wanted their perorder money back but the game was like, nope!
