I'm an ex DAoC who retired around 2008 because the RvR zones were way to big to support the available supply of PvP players. I'd still be playing if the population was healthy :-(

Anyway, I tried numerous games since then: World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Age of Conan, Darkfall Online (worst of the bunch), and Star Wars the Old Republic. I'm sticking with SWTOR until my free month expires. The game is average at best, but the endgame content looks way to similar to WoW. All these games failed to offer solid endgame PvP content like DAoC.

Like most of you, I'm also looking forward to Guild Wars 2, but there is another game I haven't seen many people discussing YET.... that game is Dominus.

The game has ex-DAoC staff, warhammer staff, and I forget who else. It looks like a sci-fi version of DAoC. The release date is supposed to be late 2012. I just wish there was another MMORPG to hold me over until it's released. I guess my only hope is to start posting there until I get a beta invite lol :-)

if DAoC players wanted pvp heavy game, and scifi... they'd just go play EvE Online....

but DAoC player do not want scifi, they want fantasy... or else they'd be playing a scifi game, like Anarchy Online. wich has faction based pvp just like RVR, as well as pve content and raid content.. and its even partialy free to play...

but daoc players dont want scifi.

The short answer to your question is no. DAoC is already in it's death throws and doesn't need another game to come out to replace it at this point.

Ark is correct about his points, right on the money in fact.

PBfD looks to be an awful game tbh. The graphics are substandard in virtually all facets. The Character models are increadibly poor. The avatar movement and combat are both terrible looking. It just doesn't have much of anything going for it compared to all the other title's currently available or on the horizon.

Doesn't appeal to me and I like Sci-Fi, I don't play DAoC because it's fanatasy. I'll predict it will be crap(PvPwise) like every other MMO since DAoC came out but I hope I'm wrong. I wouldn't compare it to EvE, which is a different kind of game altogether even if it is Sci-Fi.

Actually this game is the closest thing to DAOC's RvR that will be released since.. well DAOC. Still very much in early development though with a huge update coming in January in terms of graphics etc. The January beta should give us a better idea of where this game is at.

Keep in mind almost everything I said here on these forums has come true exactly as I said and I was laughed at and insulted,

wasnt realy comparing it to eve, just saying there are other pvp games out there, that daoc pvp players arent interested in, because they arent fantasy games they are scifi.

At the end of the day theme doesn't matter, isn't about features and functionality. For those people who love the RvR concept in DAOC, they will love the same FvF concept in Dominus.
