Do you really think Physical Defense 6 is a good RA for Cathal Valley, with no purge, no twf, no baod, no wild power, or wild minion, no aug dex?
That's a pretty angry tone for someone who posted:

In this very thread.
Of course you would think it's a negative tone.
I on the other hand, am trying to help him, and am trying to make him contemplate his RA choices. If he's having trouble with CC and Caster Damage, perhaps he should abandon the physical resist RA. That's the point I'm trying to make.
No anger on my end at all DarkPCK.

It is trivial to say that "do you really think" changes the connotation from something more neutral explanation, such as: "Physical Defense without Purge, TWF, BA, Wild Power, Wild Minion, and Aug Dex is not good for Cathal Valley if you are having trouble with CC and caster damage." And Wild Power and Wild Minion help with CC and caster damage?

I'm asking him. Sincerely.

Don't worry, this "noob" will give the BD another two days then just let him sit in the dust bin.
I'll join the legions of other noobs who couldn't find a group and decided to play a lame stealther. So far I'm having success in molvik with my hunter. Looking forward to getting disease on my pet for cathal valley. Not to mention the adrenaline rush is greater with the hunter because there is always an assassin nearby. No more running into large groups that run me over. And best of all... no more standing around at the milegate waving my hand around like a retarded autistic kid begging for a group as a BD when there are tons of other classes that can fill my role better.

What you need to do is find out which guilds are most active in the frontiers, in your timezone, then get to know them, and get to know what vent channel(s) they use. Then if if they get to know you and like you well enough, getting a group can be as simple as logging into vent.
It can seriously change how good the game can be for you.
So use /who NF to see who's in the frontier when you're in game.
Do a bit of research on google etc to find guild websites. Apply to join a guild that is active when you play.
If you don't have vent - get it.
Be proactive about grouping - it will pay off in the end.

and the irony of all this...
I'm getting more groups with my hunter than with my bonedancer. Just finished up a decent stealther group in molvik tonight.

Random stealthers tend to group up as much as they can, especially in the BGs, so I'm not surprised that you're having better luck finding groups. However...
I hate to say it, but with your defeatist attitude you're not going to enjoy RvR at 50. You tried to get a group on your BD (which is still a desired class on Mid) before you knew the proper channels by which to do so, gave those channels a shot for like... a day, then called it quits and hung up the character? I'm going to conservatively estimate that by the 20th time some RR10 Minstrel stomps you and your 3 groupmates you'll call the game unplayable and quit. And that'll suck, because it's a great game and it needs players, and the fact that you're having fun on the Hunter means that you like the game but are just pissed at the elitist playerbase. Unlike WoW and other carebear MMOs, it's possible to be good at DAoC, and the reason DAoC groups are selective is because if you have 8 players that aren't good you can and probably will lose to 4 that are. That's why no one groups randoms. Keep spamming, become a familiar name, join a guild, make friends. That's what an MMO is all about. Don't just hang up your BD because you failed before you knew what you were doing.

^^^^^^ I'm agreeing w/ Boxy here, DaoC's greatest strength lies in it's diversity and fun class interaction, of course the downside of that is, there are many times you CANNOT win a solo/group-on-group/keep or w/e and will die horribly and without ever having a chance. Because unlike some Games that pre-balance a fight, ANYTHING can happen in DaoC's RvR!
Like yourself, I'm more or less a casual player, and consider myself pretty ineffective unless I'm complementing a decent group. But once you get a few friends and get a good "fit" with some regular player, RvR really comes alive. Make friends! Join a guild that you like, ask questions etc. If worse comes to worse, you may want to roll a toon that's in higher demand for RvR, or at least simpler to play. I have BD I use for PvE, but I can't stand RvR with it, and I'd personally never step out of a keep's walls with him solo I'm in no way saying they can't RvR, only that it's a lil too complex for my tastes.
Either way hope your experience improves, I keep comig back every few years cuz I have yet to have 1/2 the fun in any other online game yet

I'd start by undoing the mandatory assisting of pets nerf. There are other small fixes, but those are for another thread.
That would be an horrible move imo, because then you switch directly from "not op" to "completely op no matter what the player does".
Besides, the pets availlable to BDs are totally decent : a pet spamming snares is a really good asset against tanks (and still decent vs. casters), and BD's ability to root for longer times is very useful against hybrids/supports. Yes, the class isn't as useful as it used to be vs. caster groups, but it still has a moderately low drain cooldown and banes.
Imo, BDs are totally fine, they are just a bit behind because of the whole caster metagame, but still playable.

The population in NF may seem fine but as it stands most traffic is directed past agramon bridges or main keeps like bled/cruach and beno making it pretty hard to solo in these areas.
Not really much goes on anywhere else unless people are zerging keeps (in which case just get on your horse and follow the drones)
