All of my characters are temped, so it's not me they're saying this to.
The entire concept of the game is about REALM vs. REALM, yet the community is so poisonous and negative towards each other, that I often wish I could kill the people I'm playing with. I know if I were on either other faction, I'd feel the same way.
Guilds mean nothing. There is no pride in taking any keep, or holding onto anything.
It's all stupid and exclusive. I love the game, but the people playing it are gross little people, who feel big by being mean to random players in a video game.
It's just not fun playing with you all, so with that said, I'm leaving. I think I'll give PC games a break until GW2 or D3.

Can't really disagree with that. Hope to see you in GW2, hopefully the community is more like the good old DAoC days.

I've never met anyone who displays anything like that...most people will give the benefit of the doubt even in shitty gear. Also even I can get groups ad I'm terrible...so noone should be having trouble getting groups. When I group with people who are worse than me (yes it happens) as long as they are doing something and not just standing there we are gtg. I booted a guy cuz he was just tanding there

I am in both Scarlet Knights Alliance in Mid and DKoC alliance in Alb, both are extremely inclusive. Hib is a little harder but possible. It is so rediculously easy now to get resists capped or near capped and stats capped even with Epic or Dragonslayer items that there is no reason for someone to go out there with garbage. Most classes are easy to template with the possible exception of stealthers.

It's very simple
Clustering screwed any "realm pride" within the game
The game is so driven towards RPs now that people have gone past the attitude of "carrying" new and lesser rank/geared players
People want to walk out with the highest rank/geared group they can and kill everything
There's no real reason for anyone to have a passion about defending keeps etc anymore, call to arms and all that. Relics change hands too often that not many people care anymore
There is however some people left who are all FTR!~

I was in the same boat as the OP, just back from the game after a 5 year or so break. All my gear was massively outdated or classic server stuff, my playing was bad because I had lost all the muscle memory of qbinds and was used to other games different pace.
When I played I was never in top 8mans, never bothered getting rr10 but I was on a lot of people's list as a decent filler for almost any spot in group.
So when I came back I never expected to be able to get the best groups, all of the people I knew are either long gone or I haven't met them again. Instead of expecting to get the best groups or spam the lfg channel all day I geared out and picked a realm I hadn't played as much back in the day. I lucked into a guild of interesting people who were very helpful getting me going again and when I get on every evening I have a group invite in short order.
Two major points for a returning player to remember are that the game is not going to be super active on demand and that you are going to have to work at rebuilding an entire social network that allowed you to play the way you used to. The second is probably the easiest to forget the importance of.

There is no respect for 8v8 anymore is the most frustrating change. Even on the island wannabe leetist who run 12 or 2 FG's are AJ'ing and chasing down 8mans who play every night... Zerg leaders like Billings, shroomz, etc choose to chase down solo's small mans, whatever they can find across whole zones... Most of the time roaming instead of trying to take keeps. The red = dead mentality is that of zerging trash who will never know the optimal way of playing their toons.. So if you want to run without a template and not be patronized play with the zerg. Their all happy and fun people...
But if you want to have some true fun, and figure out the mechanics of 8v8 and play this game like one would chess - get into a good guild, put on your big boy pants and take the constructive criticism without raging or crying, and learn to love the best RVR mechanics any MMO has to offer which is DAoC. Sh**s Chess it aint checkers!
Every 8v8 guild i've ever been in has ran right by solo's - respected 1v1's respected 8v8's and in return gets AJ'd nowadays almost every fight we get into. The best thing about old DAoC that i would like back is a lot of decent players that understand how 8v8 and respecting other 8mans already fighting makes for the best RP's and IMO the most fun.

Double standards ftw - the other day you told a (temped) guildie of mine that he couldnt join your group as he obviously wasn't in a temp as you thought you saw the BG cloak. Now he is in fact temped and the cloak is the nosdoden cloak - not only that but he is an incredibly good player with loads of 8 man experience who could probably carry your flop on inc pug.
Anyways, you end up looking like a double standards profanity on a forum.
