The attitude in Camelot is that of negativity and exclusion.

"ou're not temped! You can't play with us!"

"ou're a low realm rank! Go away!"

"ou're horrible at your class, play it like X, with Y spell!"

All of my characters are temped, so it's not me they're saying this to.

The entire concept of the game is about REALM vs. REALM, yet the community is so poisonous and negative towards each other, that I often wish I could kill the people I'm playing with. I know if I were on either other faction, I'd feel the same way.

Guilds mean nothing. There is no pride in taking any keep, or holding onto anything.

It's all stupid and exclusive. I love the game, but the people playing it are gross little people, who feel big by being mean to random players in a video game.

It's just not fun playing with you all, so with that said, I'm leaving. I think I'll give PC games a break until GW2 or D3.

Farewell VN.

False. DKoC alliance on Alb is extremely active with every guild contributing. During prime time they're anywhere from 80-100 players online just from that single alliance.

Their alliance runs nightly bgs and weekly raid excluding NO ONE. Not to mention the alliance website is updated daily and encourages new and veteran players to join and contribute to the cause.

I can't speak for Mid, but if I remember correctly "Scarlet Knights" alliance and guild are extremely active and welcome anyone willing to contribute.

Hi Cenk it was nice seeing you in game again. I hope your venting on this forum will help you feel better and fight another day tomorrow. I don't disagree with your feedback but then again it takes time to get used to the 2012 DAoC. I'm still struggling. To me the worst part is the crossrealming. I saw a troll partnered with a Sylvan in Laby and overheard discussions about jumping realms when relics change hands... I don't know if realm pride will ever come back.

But still, if you choose well who you play with you can have fun in game. I prefer to have two or three good friends than to be "popular" because of the way the playbase has changed...

Also remember that men's instincts are suppressed in daily life and men have few opportunities to be men out there...this game and other games give these repressed souls an outlet for that male angst you guys all feel...most of you can't go out to catch stuff and eat it or kill enemies. Obviously they're going to act like mean sonsaprofanities macho men when most of them probably still live at home with parents...the people who are mean in game, you should pity them because that's their only source of self-esteem. Happy satisfied people don't act like that(It's actually funny because they think that riding the keyboard makes them into men when what really makes a man a man is to be able to provide for his wife and children...)...they make a bad choice. I'm extremely unhappy, as I've suffered from PPD for years now but I don't act like a B word..

But like I said not everyone in DAoC is like that..and luckily DAoc is not really VN. I loved VN in 2005, now even members of staff have been trolling me....times change. I just take the good and ignore the ignorance.

Even if it means I'm mostly alone/solo in game trying to find solo fights, which eventually get rolled by mini zergs...part of life.

I'll tell you a story, Cenk. At the time when North America was hardly explored...one of those early French trappers went westward from Montreal...and he was the first white man to set eyes on Niagara Falls.

When he returned, he told of waterfalls that were more vast and immense than people had ever dreamed of. But no one believed him. They thought he was a madman or a liar. They asked him, "What's your proof?" And he answered "My proof is that I have seen them."

I know what DAoC once was and I wish it would go back to that. Those people don't desire it because they never experienced it. Pity the fools.

I tend to disagree strongly. It's mostly a calculus of time/energy/fun.

Look at it from the PoV of the 7 other people.

a) If you have crappy gear and die real easy you just wasted their time. It can take quite awhile to just get a mediocre group together. And everyone has their own thresholds of how long they are willing to wait vs just go with lesser stuff.

b) Very very few people care about realm rank.

c) If you play terribly, again, it can kill your whole group or delay or annoy or many other bad things, much more so than bad gear in fact. When it takes under 10 hours to go from 1-50 you have no idea if the people have the foggiest idea how to play. It's hard to group someone who you might have to rely on when it can really waste your time.

But overall what most people do wrong is that they get really defensive/whiny about it. If instead they approach it with some flexibility like 'hey I'm new' or 'hey I am willing to learn' or 'i'll do my best but if i make a mistake tell me' etc. it's really not many people who are going to exclude them.

There's only one way to fix this attitude and it starts with you. Rather than giving up and going off in a huff because the people you hang out with are aweful people, why not make an effort to be better than that yourself. That sort of paradigm shift can really affect those around you, if you're true to it.

Be the change you want to see.
