Looking at doing some arms +40 hits. So I am limited to 35 pts. it comes up as 35.5 on Gearbunny. does the .5 drop off or will it kill me?

isthisunique, the .5 is imaginary. As I understand it, the .5 means you get an extra point of some stat when you wear two pieces of crafted armor... or something!

It will kill you. In spite of what the previous poster said.

The +40 hits is considered to be a 9.0 point gem. Since it won't be the largest gem in the piece, it adds 4.5 points to the total bonus level. 35.5 + 4.5 = 40.0.

Well there you go. Five years of SC and I still haven't got the hang of all the nuances.

That's a different "0.5 points" than he's talking about.

What you are talking about the hidden 0.5 points in each +stat gem. Which means that if you use two +stats gems for the same stat (in two separate pieces, of course), the total +stat will be one higher than you might be expecting. Two points higher if you use four gems, etc.

Note that if jewelry bonuses include a +stat which is not evenly divisible by 3, then the piece of jewelry will also have that hidden 0.5 stat point. In which case using a single +stat gem in your SC will give you the extra point.

EDIT:

Example:

You SC a +7 str gem into a piece of armour.
Your necklace has +18 str. Since 18 is evenly divisible by 3, there is no hidden 0.5 points, and the total +str from those two items is +25.

Alternately, your necklace ha +19 str. 19 is not evenly divisible by 3, so there is a hidden 0.5 points there. Ditto the SC'd gem. so the total bonus for the two pieces would be 27 points (not 26 as you might expect).

This is occasionally useful when doing a really tight temp. If you're coming up only one point short in a stat, rather than increasing a gem size by one level, first check to see if you have a hidden point in among your SC and jewelry.

Mythic should just make a rule that there is no armor allowed in Molvik, we just have to run around nekkid beating on each other with training weapons.

As far as i've seen, neither Kort's nor Loki are currently being updated.

To get the correct bonus, all you have to do is lower the level of the item though.

For example, if something has +5 str cap you can lower it from level 51 to 46 to get the correct 34.5 for level 39. However, you can't adjust for the .5 (+40 hits / cap arms can only be 35.0 vs 35.5), so though you can get 35.0, all you can adjust for is 34.5 in the calculator.

So, let me get this straight so I don't ruin my 39 Scout temp:

2% Dragonsworn Vest - 37.5?

+40 Hits Dragonsworn or +40 Hits Cap Sigil - 35.0?

Helm, legs, gloves, boots, sword, shield, bow - 34.5?

Thats what I was gathering from this post. The 2% dragonsworn vests are a gimme it looks like, but doing the above should make all the other pieces level 39, right?

Might just play it safe and work for 34.5 on all my items and just 37.5 on my 2% Dragonsworn vest though.
