Ok, so since MT_Gouru won't bother answering a straight forward question, I guess you pretty much have ... "Are you guys going to keep working on Decal, or is it dead?"


There was some doubt when Gouru threw a hissy fit and posted "Decal is now dead ... I haven't decided if this is a joke post or not yet...." then when people asked him a straight forward question, he either ignores you or get "flip" on you because you are supposed to read his mind, or tell when he is being sarcastic via the typed word.


I will take it that since you are trying, and saying that you can't draw anything, that it means you guys are at least working on it. Which is great.

While a were such and such a % done with what we think we need to do post would be nice would you rather have them read/answer/sort through every post here, along with Decals own forum's (yes imagine that, forums just for Decal, hosted by and on the official site)? To spend the time reading the off topic and negative crap here would be a waste of thier time. Get on topic, get off thier back's and let em try and get it done sooner rather than later.


YOU (as in each individual user) can simply make your choice then, use Decal and WHATEVER plugins in YOU choose and leave everybody else alone and free to make thier choice!


If a guy can't muster it up to answer the same question 1000 times, yes I know he didn't reply to anyone anywhere at anytime in the manner or time frame they required, I guess he's just pure evil. Give him and the rest of us a break, debate this whole thing on some other board for some other game, will be just as on topic and useful to the community there.


I want to come here and atleast be able to see if there is a post about progress from time to time. But the atmosphere here makes it almost impossible for them to even make such a post for fear of getting the "keep Decal broke it's ruinin the game" group riled up again. And I for one am sick and tired of them posting, deciding which apps or plugins I may use to play a game I am paying for.

Sounds like he answered your question. The more time people ask stupid questions, the more time he takes to answer them, the more time it takes him to get our beloved decal working. Leave him alone, when it's ready he'll let you know.


Do you think bugging him is going to make him work any faster? Wouldn't for me, it'd piss me off and actually make me not want to work on it.

And after 10 pages, even before he had it locked, he never answered the question of posted something like "Ok, now that Turbine is changing it back, Decal is NOT dead, we will be working on it, but there is no ETA."


That would have sufficed.


But when you open the door to doubt, out of common courtesy, you should put that doubt to rest. Preferably just as clear as you opened it with.

And for the record, I haven't asked WHEN Decal is going to be released, just IF it was going to be worked on. I actually have told myself and my guildmates to not expect it and all the TPAs for at least a month or more. If they get it done before them, great, but I'd be suprised if it was before then.

If this info is posted someplace, I've missed it. Believe I read somewhere that some of the memloc findings would be made available. Was wondering if you could share a few pieces. I can be patient while decal is being worked on. I could be much more patient if you could share the clients base address and the offsets for the received text/chat.

Your question has been answered probably about 50 times since that 'Decal is dead' thread was started. As for being able to tell if Gouru is being sarcastic or not, evidently you don't actually read many of the posts that he does make. Changing from DX7 to DX9 is a HUGE undertaking. Give them a break. Asking the same question(s) over and over again will not make them want to work any faster, nor will it make them want to answer your question as it has most likely been answered quite a few times.


Now, please just be patient (ACK!! THE P WORD!!) and when they are able to get things working, they will let us all know.

Show me two places where someone on the Decal team has said "Decal is being worked on, it is NOT dead." Show me one time where Gouru says it.


I have no doubt that it is a huge project. I have the utmost respect for them. All that I am saying is that when one of the more "public" of the Devs makes a post that says "Decal is Dead", that tends to get peoples attention, and should be put to rest with equal clarity.

If Gouru was being sarcastic or not on his "Decal is Dead" thread, it was aimed at an issue that had (at best) little to do with Decal, but a change in the CoC... That change turned out to be a Type-o and was to be corrected (I think SM Hacked the CoC page and changed it )


After the issue was answered, Gouru had the thread locked...


Some may not have liked Gouru's tactics on that thread, personally, I applaud them... the change had been noted in other places, but until that thread, it was not addressed.


As for the reason for this thread, Thanks for the update, Where do I send the pizza?
