<< Gouru, you stated there won't be support for Win9x ... but AC specifically calls out Win98SE as a viable OS platform for the game. >>

You are correct, it is also specifically called out as viable for DirectX9. You can play AC with DirectX9 on a Win98 or later machine.

Decal specifically lists Win9x (Windows 95 through Windows ME) as NOT supported. So you cannot play with Decal on those operating systems. Well technically you could try, but if it doesn't work, it isn't supported and will not be fixed.

Many posts on this thread have been removed as being "off-topic" to the thread. Let's use this topic for discussion specifically related to updates being made in Decal, and the Decal developers can give us updates as they see fit. ETA-type posts and general spam / argument about what this thread should be used for will be removed.

Thanks

On a semi-related topic ...

7/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - Users that want to download upgrades for the XP operating system will have to submit to a system scan. Microsoft says it's just another way to cut back on OS copying but critics claim there may be more afoot than just protecting market share

Users looking to download the latest Windows updates now have to verify that their copy of the operating system is legitimate.

Microsoft Tuesday announced the release of Windows Genuine Advantage 1.0 as the next step in its global

anti-piracy initiative. Validation with WGA will be required for customers using Windows Update, Microsoft Update for Windows content and the Download Center. Microsoft, however, excluded security updates, which will remain available to all Windows users.

If a user’s software is found to be counterfeit, they can fill out a piracy report, provide proof of purchase and send the fake CDs to receive a legit copy at no cost. Those who only submit a piracy report will receive a copy of Windows XP Home for $129 and Windows XP Pro for $199.

I noticed when playing with the help ksml files that I can drag the help screens out of the 3D area. (it is even present on the character select screen) Will Decal under ToD be similar, where plugins could be placed over what was 2D areas?

I believe #acdev is on EFnet, though it's been awhile since I stopped working on my plugins and visiting there. And anyhow, the version they relese there will probably only be of value to plugin developers trying to get their plugins ready for a beta or final release; most likely it will be too buggy for mass consumption.

Which brings us to the wisdom of 'if you have to ask, we're not telling'--the first few public releases of decal will not be intended for the end user, it's best if they don't even bother messing with it.

EFNet is not correct. a simple Google search will return the correct results if people are willing to put in the effort. google is your friend.

Ascus, we haven't determined that finally yet.

One method we used allowed dragging over the formerly 2D areas (there aren't any 'true' 2d areas anymore), another method did not. So for now, we don't know.
