Even the blocking of Admin alarms had problems if recall correctly. The initial version Chat Crayon came ending up blocking the text of admin messages so people never saw them. As a result a couple people were banned when they did not reply to Admin tells. Chat Crayon is not even remotely associated with Macroing.


If, CreateObject message was blocked, All of my plugins would break. It is the cores of making all plugins work. World Filter is great, but it does not have all the information that my plugins use. DCS uses it for determining color; Thirdeye for finding mobs, NPC and "freindly" players; Ascus uses it for finding portals, lifestones and housing; and Buzzard uses it for corpses.


Even the message and flags that tells when a player changes PK state, would break Thirdeye. It uses these messages to determine when to remove PK and PKLs that are not in your alliance from the display or add them back on the display, when the PK or PKL flags are cleared. Without it PK and PKL players would be visable. If all players where blocked you could not use it to track people in your group.


Care needs to be taken when information is blocked by Decal. Some plugins use this information for good purposes.

Could you not block/filter out a specific set of GUID's? I'm not entirely sure how Turbine identifies objects, but most certainly mob's would have entirely different sets of ID #'s then players would, no?

Ascus, IIRC (which I may not), the one we put in did NOT break plugins, since the message was never given to them. It was passed unchanged to the AC client which put it out to the normal text area. Turbines first attempt to stop Admin alarms (after ours) changed a packet format, which I believe is what broke Chat Crayon and um...Bandit Chat? They later made another change to make Screen Scraping of the message much harder. Their active efforts to stop admin alarms is enough to outlaw them in my opinion, even if they are not specifically called out in the CoC.

I'm sure a lot of Darktide players would give up those benefits to ensure that war/player detect never return again to Darktide...but I do see where you are coming from

Giving up those benefits is almost akin to giving up Decal entirely.


And we have played with the idea of disabling Decal entirely when logged into DT...


But...When guns are outlawed...

It wouldn't though. Someone would get determined and write a TPA using their own filters.

i have a question for you decal devs. now that you've had a chance to see the ui improvements and such, have you seen anything that will let you add anything new and exciting to decal or plugins?

hope all the work on decal is going well...i check daliy for an update on it to see what has been done and what is going on. i cant wait for the day when decal is back and the plugins work again.


i just hope that someone picks up Megellan 2 and makes it work again or still...i can not say how helpful i always found it to have the dungeon displayed on my screen in a hud. makes navigation so much easier.
