Drak,

Does that mean you have stopped working on the solution? Or did that die when El had tank killbitted?

I only ask because he did say he would support a "fix" so long as it was within certain parameters.

ELTank is dead. It's been killbitted.

There are no more "solutions".

Edit:

All viable solutions went out the door as soon as some idiot posted a hacked DLL. Yay for stupidity!

You can thank them in addition to Elgar for all the retardedness that happened with ELTank.

Did anyone actually release and distribute it publicly? I know I made no bones about the fact that I had it, but it stayed within the original 2 people who made it, not even giving it to friends.

Yeah the thing has been killbitted and ElTank really isn't worth the effort to try and get around that either (it's possible but not forever and it's just another pain in the butt).

Alinco and LifeTank have both stepped up production it seems, so while now you'll need 2/3 programs to do what used to take one.

Yes.. there was a hacked DLL released on UseNet, and someone else was offering the DLL for ... monetary compensation.

it had to be killed.

This is why we can't have nice things.

And I think I forgot to finish my previous post "while now you need 2/3 programs, you can still get the same functionality out of AC."

Actually for Alinco all this drama around El Tank made me consider to keep my plug-ins private

in the future and has helped me with the final decision not to release a acm plugin as it will be

hacked anyway and even sold. So I removed all the not yet activated combat functions to an other project

But no doubt that there will be others just give it time.

Oh, Ive' got to be honest all I used tank for was XP/Hr and autoloot so I'm not sure what lifetank and Alinco does/doesn't have.

You people can speak against ElGarl all you like. I don't have anything bad to say about a fellow who went to all the trouble to make a program that served me so well for so long. I don't acm or ucm. ElTank did so many things for me without using the automatic combat features, that now I am having withdrawals.

You can speak of Alinco and FindIt but they don't do the same things in the same way with the same ease of editing. It requires a learning curve to change plugins. Yes, I am using different plugins. Trying my best to get them adjusted just the way I like. And I am grumpy about the whole thing. I wish ElGarl hadn't quit AC.

If someone else had written a program which covered so much territory, I might be using that other program. Sigh.

I really appreciate the Decal Devs and the plugin writers. I do not have anything bad to say about them either. When you look at all that they have done for us, how could anyone complain?

To the Defenders of Elgar, I salute you.

To the Detractors of Elgar, I salute you.

Elgar? Know what? I salute you too.

To those who are ticked off at my stance, well, we aren't always going to see eye to eye on things, are we?

And to the remark about keeping a plug-in private because of the flap over this one dying? All I can say is if I were the writer/owner/dev of a plug-in, and said one thing, and promply did another - and this effected hundreds of people's enjoyment of the game - I'd expect to get some serious criticism, too. Lord, I'd be shocked if I didn't get any.

I think it's time to agree to disagree. My stance is mine, yours is yours. I have said my piece.

Time to move on.

Have fun in Dereth!
