I find this kind of amusing. Someone who did not create ELTank, is stopping other ppl from using it, i'm just curious why noone sees this as wrong. I don't want anyone stopping me from what I do on my computer. What do you think would happen if Microsoft Killbitted Netscape or Firefox? They'd be in court very fast and they'd lose.
I'm sorry but you have no right to force me into using or not using anybody else's software.

Lets say, Netscape Communication Corporation asked Microsoft to killbit Netscape Navigator and Microsoft complied with their request. There would be no legal action that could be taken against Microsoft.

Yula is correct.
As previously stated, Decal Devs did NOT Killbit ELTank on our own opinions. We were ASKED to kill it BY Elgar... the author and sole developer of ELTank. HE asked us to kill it, and so we did.
It is an exact match to Yula's analogy. If Netscape or Mozilla asked Microsoft to killbit their software, then they and their users have no recourse for legal actions because the developers themselves requested it. It wasn't a decision Microsoft made on their own and did because they wanted to eliminate the others.

I believe what most are forgetting in this situation... Is that Eltank is owned by one person, and one person only: ElgarL. Eltank is NOT owned by the AC community, no matter how many times you may tell yourself that. Eltank is his intellectual property and is allowed to do whatever he feels like doing with it, with or without anyone's written permission, opinions, or feelings.

It's understandable that Elgar owns this piece of software ..
.. but it's a sad day, when one of the best utilities ever release can be swipe away in-a-day from many many fans who were in love with it .. done by just one person.
Something is sadly wrong with this picture .. especially during the holiday season.

People, come on now. ElTank was a superior piece of code, but its time has come & gone. Don't let your insecurities bring you down to chastising the Decal devs, as they've done nothing wrong. Remember, it is the generous spirit of the Decal devs that allow us to utilize our precious plugins. It's over and it is time to move on...  |
