i dont think they are saying it is the first choice of a hunting weapon...

"In the wilderness, a GLOCK provides confidence against unexpected threats."

if i was out hunting wabbits i wouldn't consider my target an unexpected threat.

I'm guessing "unexpected threats" refers more to bears or catamounts entering a campsite.

no, but a wolf, bear, or other such intruder (black man) is.

I can see everything except the bear. I am not sure a glock would be do much to an advancing bear. But you may just scare him off if he is not already after you.

*And the why not just use your higher power rifle anyway on any of that. I understand if it is close quarters or it is on you attacking you, but that would be less likely.

So Glock is saying it is a companion piece for a hunter I guess.

Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.

right, a backup weapon...not your primary hunting weapon.

out bird hunting and a bear comes around...are you going to shoot it with bird shot?

now out bear hunting, wouldn't you be expecting a bear?

black powder hunting...are you going to reload in time to down charging animal that you nicked or pull out your handgun?

The three most important things when considering take-down power of rifle or handgun loads against any particular live target:

1) the point on the that you aim for
2) the part of the target that your bullet hits
3) the location of the wound your bullet makes

LOL and regarding the use of 45 acp for bear, I googled it to see what people had to say and found this:

Thread Title: Hot .45acp load for black bear and hunting.

I am thinking of going 10mm for hunting but I don't want a Glock and a colt delta is too much. If I can find a load to shoot out of my 1911 I will use it.
I want a 230 - 250 gr fmj ball ammo round to do at least 950 fps but I would prefer something in the 1000 to 1100 feet per second range. Can this be done safely and can this just be done. What loads have you found?

I would think it'd be good to have a weapon you can easily arm, aim, and fire in close quarters if something were to be hunting you...
