Yes it is, and yes you do. The pipeline would deliver oil to one of the few places in the U.S. that has the refining capacity to make gasoline out of it.

The US is poised to become THE supplier of natural gas to the entire world, and as noted above...is already exporting more oil products than the amount of oil it imports.
This isn't about capacity or feeding the American peoples voracious demand for mideast oil (there isn't one)...it's about putting a pipe full of crude oil smack in the middle of the source of an even more precious fluid than oil. Water.
