Another thing people tell me I should be outraged about but something that I will probably never feel the effects of either way.

But oh no, if this pipeline was built we'd have gas for $1 a gallon, right?

The environmental analysis is not complete. In some cases, I'd say let this slide, but big oil has a long history with the environment of f****** it in the *** with a ***** while **** ******* in their ***** and **** followed by ******* the ****** **** for oil and ***** and then ***** lobbyists ****** **** up the ****** with **** ****** gerbils.

Due to this history, it is important to finish the environmental analysis.

Just like the ski lodge with young women looking for husbands and husbands looking for young girls, the situation is not as symmetric as it first appears.

Look at it this way. Building and operating a pipeline is not something that can be outsourced.

Well look at it this way, figuring out how to build this pipeline without threatening natural wildlife is an opportunity to showcase that good old American ingenuity that made this country great in the first place.

The EIR process with the EPA is so politicized it's ridiculous. Having worked with them on these kinds of things for 10-15 years, it was obvious that they (the EPA) used the endless review/revision cycles to either sit on the report for as long as it took for people to give up on a project or for them to gather whatever objections they could from whatever political allies wanted the project killed. Very little of the chances for a project's approval was based on some close-call on whether there would be adverse environmental impact. That could be figured out easily long before the money for the project was committed.

I fail to see why the US should build a pipeline to allow Canadian oil to be transported across the country so it can be refined on the gulf coast....and then sold to China.

Don't get me wrong, I don't see anything wrong with the concept of letting companies make money and in the process create a few jobs... but fully understand why someone wouldn't want a pipe full of crude oil cutting thru the heart of the watershed in order to create a few jobs and so some corporations can increase their profitability.

This isn't about increasing domestic oil supplies, don't need the pipe to do that. It's about making money for oil companies. Like I said, no problem with them making money but see no reason why we should bend over and let them do it any way they want.

It was going to be sold to the US.

Failure to build the pipeline = more pipelines from Alberta through BC to the Pacific and then Asia via ships.

It's pretty well forcing us to trade with the East. China seems good with that.

Actually it was going to be sold to oil companies in the US, who would ship the oil to China, we wouldnt actually see any benefit from the actual oil aside from a few jobs.

Either way I dont care, they werent going to build it anywhere near me.
