i spoke too soon. i actually watched some of it and it appears to be a slow-paced warhammer from the perspective of what i think is supposed to be a tank but he ends up shooting his bow most of the time. a keep situation doesn't make it daoc.

No doubt.

I have been trying to figure out if there is real open world pvp or not and am still not sure.

Nothing like the early days of daoc in hostile territory going rambo on groups out exping. Prolly my favorite week of gaming was when my buddy and I found a nice lake to camp in near a popular enemy xp spot. Killed so many people. Sooooo many..

That video does show open world PvP similar to DAoC's Frontiers. It's just not as massive as DAoC's would be because it's a press event. There aren't that many people around because there just aren't that many people playing right now.

I feel like thats a pvp zone though, as in not just part of the world.

That was the awesome part of daoc, you could be doing your normal grind and see a war party run by.

Meh, since it will also come with a console version you have to wonder how dumbed down it will be.

Both Frontiers and Darkness Falls were PvP zones, and the only places outside of Battlegrounds that you would see enemy players, so I don't know what you're talking about.

What do you mean by large-scale? When I went to the official guild wars 2 site, it looks like all the pvp will still be limited to 10v10 matches, and that's what they'll be...matches. Do this and you win. Do that to win. Etc. Nothing like the fluid, real-time, realm vs. realm that could be had in DAOC.

Maybe I missed it but...it sounds nothing like pvp/rvr from DAOC.

It's right on the front page of the website.

DAOC did have pvp zones like Talehon says. If you wanted to grind in them, cool- but there were obvious risks. If you didn't want to bother with the risk or potential hassle you could stay in your realm's pve areas and never have to worry about it.
