i only played warhammer in the beginning and only got to level 30 something. it had a lot of things going for it. I liked that you could gain a lot of experience in PVP even though it was mostly through instances and susceptible to imbalances. when i played, though, once you were in the 30's you seemed obligated to go back into PVE because the pvp instances in those levels wasn't efficient exp any longer.
at that point it was a pve grind, and after playing DAOC for years i couldn't stomach it. i never wanted the additional obligatory PVE content that came with TOA in daoc. it was obligatory because once you introduce better items you have to have those items to compete. competitive group vs group pvp is dynamic, challenging and exciting. it depends on teamwork, communication, and personal ability as much as any team sport. you can't go back to pve and enjoy killing npc's once you really excel in pvp- not me anyways.
TLDR: i'm only gonna play an MMO that is most like a team sport, not a zerg v zerg standoff, and not a PVE grind.
I disagree with regard to being forced into PVE for levels.
While yes, you got the levels FASTER in PVE, 40 was the cap and after that it was based on RR -- IE level 43 was essentially 40/40 and level 45 was essentially 40/60. Hence if you were say 33/27 you would end up say 40/40 via the PVP method and 40/27 via the PVE method and then have to level your RR to 40. In essence there really was never a need except for equipment and even then there were PVE equipment items and PVP equipment items that ran in parallel. If it really got slow I think it was more a function of you outlevelling your peers than just the PVP action... If you were killing 40s as a 33 in tier 4 you should be getting decent exp. If you are killing 29s not so much. If you did not have the organization to kill any 40s as a 33 in tier 4 then obviously your exp would stink.

As for it being a DAOC board -- well there is certainly overlap between AC fans and DAOC fans. I know I played both games and WAR and EQ and EQ2 and Rift and Vanguard and COH and Aion and Horizons and Dragon Nest and Vindictus and and and .... (at least 50 of em if you include the ftps)
